Coburn

Pretty much the only positive we can take from today.

Coburn and Akpom could be a lethal partnership if we're still in the Championship next season (didn't think I'd be saying that 6 months ago).

Should be recalled and put in our team rather than developing Aston Villa strikers for them instead.

Hear what your saying.I think this loan will do him the world of good seems a mature lad but this will help being away from his home comforts .

Should be playing regular football, rather than occasionally coming off the bench in the Championship.

Both clubs are happy for him to be there, Coburn is happy to be there.

He's repeatedly said how much the loan is benefitting him, it'll benefit Middlesbrough next season.

As I said, I'd recall him and put him in our team. Up top, in front of Akpom. Not on our bench.

Best "minutes per goal" ratio in League 1 with a goal every 129 minutes, and second best stats for Goal Conversion too. Also only 4 goals behind the top scorers, despite playing around 10 games less than them. Colby Bishop (Portsmouth) seems worth a look based on his stats too!

For context though, Chuba averages a goal every 109 minutes and Ross Stewart manages one every 96 minutes.

This aged well.
Really? It looks it has been proven right to me as we have developed Archer rather well for Aston Villa and added several million onto any potential price tag. People on here the other day were saying that signing Archer permanently for £20M would be a snip, whereas I doubt Villa would get anywhere near that this summer if he'd been watching Ollie Watkins do his stuff whilst sat on their bench for the second half of the campaign.

I don't doubt Archer has been a good signing and more than deserves his place in the team, but our go to reserve central striker is Matt Crooks.

Given Archer has scored 10 goals and assisted 6 in the Championship in the time that Coburn has scored 1 in League One, I'd say that Archer is the much better bet.

Whatever happens next season, Archer has been excellent and entertaining for us this year.

Your point in January was that we shouldn't have signed Archer in the first place, not that Coburn should have been our back-up striker ahead of Crooks.

My point in January was that I would prefer it if we gave our own real first team prospects a chance here rather than loan them out and loan someone else in.

Archer has been excellent nevertheless and brought a new dimension to the team. However, I still believe Coburn should be given chances in our team, and probably would have had as many chances here as he has had at Bristol Rovers in the second half of the season as I believe he has more often than not been on the bench for them.

I'd prefer if we were successful.
Archer is a key part of the reason we've made the play-offs, he's arguably been our best ever January signing.

Since Archer's first game here, Coburn has started 13 of Bristol Rovers' 19 games, scoring 1.
Most of the ones he didn't start were because he'd picked up a knock and they then changed shape.
Unless we didn't sign Archer to begin with, or we'd dropped out of the play-off hunt, he would not have started anywhere near as many games as that for us.

I love young Josh but he isn’t in Archers league and Archer gives us a better chance of success this season.

Second to Gaston at the minute unless he fires us to promotion
