Club Statement on Pitch Invaders

The club also needs to launch an investigation on the standard of Stewarding relating to preventing and/or controlling pitch incursions. The last few "events" have been shambolic in all aspects.
Absolutely this but also the general standard of stewarding. Aggression, knowledge, helpfulness all need improving.

It was the ease that the boy was able to get on the pitch that i found most disturbing. No one chased after him to stop him, he could have had a knife, bottle of acid, or any other weapon to assault a player with, and there is no real search for home fans entering the stadium. The club really needs to get its act together and make sure there are enough staff watching to grab any scrote trying to get on the pitch. If you were some loonie watching that you’d be thinking hey i could easily get at any one of those players. Very shoddy by the club and totally avoidable

Just out of interest did the board exist in 2006 when a fan ran up to throw his season ticket at Steve Mclaren after a 0-4 defeat? Did this fan attract the same level of vitriol or did the poor result on the day redeem his actions?

The lifetime ban does seem excessive and feeds into the cancel culture that is invading all areas of society. While we don’t know the full story, a 3-5 year ban seems more proportionate.

He didn't run on the pitch for a start.

But I'd have banned him too.

A lifetime ban seems a harsh punishment, but I expect the abuse probably was out of order.
Obviously the man himself is never going to admit to being out of order though, so we'll not know what was actually said.

Lifetime ban is the right call. The kid should also get a ban…circa three years should do it. A parent videoing his kid doing that should be banned from every football ground in the country. Doesn‘t sound like the brightest.
Not really fans anyway if their first thought is to do that while we’re busting a gut to score a fourth.
As mentioned it could have potentially cost the club millions.

The kid who ran on v. Derby for the Rooney selfie ….should also be banned, and his father. He returned to his seat near us and his dad seemed quite proud as his son showed the selfie to anyone who cared to look.

The funny thing was it was a selfie of him and Rooney from the nose up. The kid completely screwed it up. Well done son.

To make my position clear, the child should not have been anywhere near the pitch, his dad a Pratt, who quite rightly defended him.

On a scale of 10 of misbehaviour, 2 above running through a corn field.

The reaction on here is way way OTT.
You can’t suggest on over reaction on here!

You’ll be branded a lunatic or a drug addict or something.

Cesar Yurek called for him to be hung by the genitals outside of the sweatershop!

What’s the overreaction? The club have applied rules which we have all agreed to when we have bought our season tickets, then members of the Forum have agreed with the rules being applied.

If ( and I don’t know) the parent used abusive and threatening behaviour that alone should be enough for a life ban.

It would be the suggestion of an over reaction.

genuine question and sorry for sounding dim but can can you explain what you mean by this ( not trying to be awkward but want to understand a different point of view)

edit - just reread the comments again and get your meaning👍

The club statement says the dad was complicit to the child running onto the pitch whilst the match was on, even videoing and then was abusive and threatening to the stewards, double whammy, lifetime ban, precedent set, jobs a good ‘in….👍😁

I fully agree. A lifetime is a long time, I wonder if they will recognise him at 60 yo.

The suggestion of an over reaction.

Maybe there was no violent conduct/abusive behaviour so perhaps the lifetime ban could be reduced to 20 years?

FMTTM: BUUUURNNN HIIIIMMMMM!!

As I said for a left wing board it's right of Trump when it comes to law enforcement. There should be more prisons, stop any parole, and bring the minimum age down to 6.

My word. Some people will crowbar politics into any thread.

Are the left supposed to support selfish attitudes and entitled behaviour? Quite the opposite I’d have thought.
