Closing Minutes of Middlesbrough Supporters Forum

The OneBoro rep said it was the club that rejected them.
I believe his application and interview were to the football club and the FSA - the interviewers would have been FSA and a Boro exec member. The results would be a joint decision by both.
But then it will be important that the panel works links to One Boro and Fly Me To The Moon and podcasts etc etc.

Neither One Boro or Fly Me To The Moon nor Boro Breakdown will be directly represented on the new panel. It is supporter groups that have memberships - and then there are also several independent members that have been selected by interview. The One Boro rep was part of that independent process - as far as I know.

This is the same or similar system being adopted nationally across the EFL and Premier League under advice and guidance from the FSA (Football Supporters Association).

There was no interview.

If that's the case regarding representation then fair enough but it doesn't appear to have been well communicated. I don't think OneBoro were aware of that.

There were application forms that everyone filled in. Like applying for a job. In fact it was applying for a job but unpaid of course,

The One Boro guy definitely applied.

It is very sad that not everyone that served on the MSF is on the new panel - but it may not be so important because if the panel is working well then they will be consulting regularly via One Boro and Boro Breakdown etc.

But sorry my reason for posting this thread which I messed up was to alert everyone to the final set of minutes. The food collection on Saturday may possibly be the final action of MSF. As you will see we will issue a press statement about our 9 years and also look to ensure that the website is hosted somewhere that it will kept as an archive for everyone to visit.

I've never been involved in supporters groups as a way of changing things or input, although I did join the Supports club in the 1970s 80s for it transport to away games, but only used it a few times. It always seems like a secret society that only bother with the certain groups, and if you aren't in a group it makes you no less of a fan but its good to know what's happening.

It would be good if they put email group out (I don't expect it) so any Boro fan could get the minutes and any news updates or proposals, even a no reply bulletin would do for me.

Fwiw I applied and had an interview and didn't get onto the panel although the club did say they would keep in touch (though that was December and I haven't heard anything else)

Interview panel was a club rep, an FSA rep and Gary Philipson.
What sort of questions were you asked in the interview? Was it mainly to do with your experience of serving on committees etc or was it stuff like what colour were Stuart Boam's eyes?

haha, more the latter tbh. there were a few about how you would share (or not) information, and deal with having some sort of public fan profile (I think they intend to put profiles of the members on the website etc.)

The fans panel has not actually formally set up yet. There will be elections for chair. And first meeting projected this summer. They are rightly taking their time.

But it was important that the Middlesbrough Supporters Forum officially closed as an organisation and announced that happening. Hence this thread.

sure, but they have appointed the members - at least that's what I was told. and I got the impression it would be set up a bit quicker than it has been.

Its really hard to have representative fans on the panel, because there are hundreds of different opinions on Boro stuff, its seems rare to get Boro fans to agree on anything. Partly it because they all come from different backgrounds nowadays. For example some are on living wage, others on over £50k a year, some working, some retired, some with young kids, some don't, some live locally. some don't, some use the Club shop some don't, some are good with new tech, some aren't or don't want to be, some have been going to games for 30 years plus. others are more recent fans etc etc.

The problem with the Middlesbrough Supporters Forum was that there were very few reps fighting for those fans without season tickets. The club themselves admitted that they were aware of this issue.

Sorry to ask again but can someone direct me to the list of appointed members.

We cannot because the first official meeting has yet to take place - most likely early June and as yet there is no chair elected. And therefore no list to reveal.

Sorry, I am repeating myself but as chair of Middlesbrough Supporters Forum I wanted to let everyone know on this forum that we are now officially closed. That is the purpose of this thread. The new panel will want to make their own announcements I am sure.

That is news to me. Personally I always did what I could to stand up for all fans, regardless of season card holders or not,
I know you may not believe this but that was always my personal ethos when chair.
But I would always encourage people to try and get themselves more connected - perhaps by joining a supporters group and so having a voice and also taking part in the social contacts with the club, players, officials etc.

Are you on the new panel Rob?

I didn't direct that particularly at you Rob but the wider group. That said, i can give an example, there's been plenty of discourse on fmttm about priority points but i don't ever recall that being reflected in minutes as being discussed. You have always very much been for priority points.

Yes, I am, as you know. Not from personal interest I am an away season ticket holder so priority points are not for my use. But just from not wanting to subject everyone to a lottery every single away game.
But yeah I have no idea whether the new panel will have the same take on this. Whether they are all season card holders. How many away games if any they attend.

The most obvious one is the stock levels in the shop again being a shambles. Havent been able to get home or away shirt in some of the M/L/XL since around October/November time, utterly pathetic.
