Climate Change question

I know there some bright people on here.

I would like to know how long it takes for carbon been released say by driving a vehicle to it becoming a green house gas/creating a green house gas effect. I know we can't be accurate , but is it weeks, months, a year, 5 years, 10 years, or more?

I remember hearing ozone took quite a long time to have an effect, say 20 years - hence we didn't notice the problem until the mid 80s, from aerosols and fridges used in the 1960s.

I was also thinking of when was the peak for carbon release in the UK? I remember the late 1960s and there were a lot of coal fires, 85% ? of our electricity came from coal and most families had a car that gave a lot more pollution that the cars of today.

Cheers.

Peak carbon release in the UK was late 60s/early 70s, I believe. We're now supposedly at levels similar to the 1800s.
