To be fair I dont think its the worst signing we can made, but the fee just suggests were absolutely desperate, and panic buys dont exactly work out for us, wonder how far down the list we are now.....
I doubt it's a "panic buy", it has been well reported that Warnock has tried to sign him a couple of times in recent years.

A lot of the free transfers have been players aged 29 or over. A 24 year old player is likely to have a sell on fee, so a transfer fee needs to be paid.

Jordan Hugill was £5m which is a reasonable comparison for valuation and he is 28, although he has a lot of Championship experience and is English so less of a risk.

Remember we've signed very expensive (for Boro) failures recently. Hopefully this lad gives more than Braithwaite and Gestede.

Block21 - I'll settle for part Nigerian/part English

BoroMart - I used the stats on Wikipedia for LJ - are they wrong?

Newy wrote Kieffer Moore was £1.6m - he's 28 played for Torquay/Ipswich/Barnsley/Wigan mainly in lower leagues - 25% goal ratio - Akpom looks OK for £2.75m (with add ons). As always there are big risks and unknowns.

The stats on wiki don't distinguish between 1 min as a sub and 90 mins as a starter. About 30% of his appearances were sub appearances and add up to about 180mins.

Looking into Akpom, he has been an effective player in the last 3 seasons for POAK and Sint Truidense, although had to fight to win his place. 10gls 3 assists last year, 8 goals and 5 assists the year before, 6 goals 1 assist the year before.

The two years before that he got 7 at Hull and barely played at Brighton, but he was only 19-20 year old those two years. He seems to have improved. I'm looking forward to seeing the kid play

I think most would not approve of 5mil for Moore. The general reading on here was once it got over 2mil 'it was enough'.

He maybe a world beater. I was more surprised we had that much money and if we did it would be 2 1.5mil signings.

I don't think we are in a position for him to be crap. Just for once i hope he's a gem and looks a right bargain. I want to be reading how clubs want him for 20mil+ come June. It means he's had a great season. The majority of our forwards end up worthless (as Britt and Fletcher will leave for nothing).

In Neil we trust.
Who knows whether a player fits the bill till hes got his boots on?
Appears to have his head screwed on.

As someone said earlier in the thread we need goals from the whole team and we have lacked that for a long time now? To get up there we need to find 25/30 more goals. The midfield is the key to that and we don't seem to have that sorted yet.
