It's got nothing to do with coaching or how or where he's being played. It's down to the player.
does that not negate the purpose of coaches and managers?

It was a tongue in cheek comment, I loved Bernie as a player, the best bit of business Willie Maddren did. As a pundit, wasn’t quite so keen, especially when he was on that awful three legends programmeYou realise it's more of an achievement to score goals in a struggling team than a flying one though don't you?
Scoring 32 Goals for a team who only escaped relegation on the last day of the season is a remarkable achievement. He also scored 17 goals in the previous season when we did get relegated. I don't think Bernie gets the credit he deserves, a player who achieved those two seasons tallies today in those circumstances would be worth £25 million plus.

He played well even in wilders team when everyone else was struggling. Played well as a 9 played well as a 10. The lad has done it himself. Training on his own was it or with the u23s? Left on the shelf.

He certainly didn't seem to have an issue with Wilder when interviewed after scoring that brace against Sheffield United.

All that may be true, but you said two managers drained his confidence, which wasn't really true, as he started the season very confidently.Wilder had his hand forced to play him - Akpom came back from Greece, we couldn't get rid of him, couldn't sign the strikers he wanted (and Larsen) so we were left with Chuba, two "development" players () and a young lad.
No squad number, chucked into the team through desperation and .....rest is history. Absolutely certain if Gayle and Mcgoldrick had come here Chuba might have made the squad at best.
Wilder has form for berating players in public, throwing players under the bus, and dropping them. I believe if Chuba hadn't hit form then he would have been on the naughty step with Dijksteel, Fry etc. But hey, just an opinion, who knows.
In August, no-one would have imagined in a million years Chuba would be Championship top scorer in February. Funny old game football
I also think there will have b3en an element of the club generally wanting to cut their losses on him

Apologies, the Wilder/Chuba scenario was different to the Warnock one and Chuba did play well in a struggling team. Wilder has thrown a few of our players under the bus, and if Chubas form dropped no doubt he would have come in for the same treatment - but it's all just if and bits and could haves.
Definitely think the club would have cut their losses (if a suitable bid come in) and Wilder would have happily sanctioned it. Crazy turnaround, pleased for him

If we don’t go up then he’s definitely gone. A premier league team will come in and offer him wages we simply can’t match. The question is how much we’d get transfer wise

Under Wilder he came on at QPR and turned the game almost. In fact if it was not for dodgy assistant refs flag we would have come away with something from 3-0 down.
Next game he scored two against Sheff Utd then the injury.
He also scored a couple for Leo.
Someone/thing has changed him. Nothing phases him nowadays - confident, strong and clever.

He feels the love from us, probably first time since his teeny years at Arsenal where he was highly rated. This in turn has boosted his confidence and he's loving life.
It will be interesting if we didn't go up and a big PL bid came in over summer. Could we afford to turn it down? Is he happy to stay in a positive environment? Will he actually want to leave and risk going back to his early Boro/Greece days?
Plenty of strikers have failed when stepping up....and at 27 he's not a youngster......

I think there's a decent chance he signs a contract extension.
His age (and career history) works in our favour. No doubt prem clubs will be interested. But I'm not sure they'll be queuing up to throw silly money at a player his age off the back of one good season in the second tier.

100% this! He came back from Greece with the intention of not letting his career slide away.. he upped his game and had massively turned it up a notch if the pitch.
When at Arsenal he was tipped for big big things and whilst not doing anything wrong I think he allowed his career to just happen a little bit.
He’s not suddenly just become a good player, it was always there.. he’s just put everything into place, the penny has dropped and he’s putting the extra work in mentally instead of just going through the motions.
Hats off. A huge effort required to get to where he is right now. Hopefully he can continue it with us next season.. in the premier league!!

Unfortunately PL clubs have more money than sense, and are very gung-ho in spaffing £20m+. And if a £50/60/70k week contract is dangled in front of you ......
