Chuba Akpom…

Natural talent, after the first couple of years here and the rightly so critisism something has clicked pre season with him, maturity, on the bottom ... who knows but wow what a season he is having ... red hot and on fire... long may the form continue . Happy Days for Chuba and the Boro

Chuba’s first goal was a spark of genius but his second was an outstanding strikers goal.

There was nothing on but his movement into space into the box was off the scale, it was in the back of the net in a flash from nothing. Great pass from McGree but it was a proper strikers goal.

Superb.

Let’s not forget he was playing well at the start of the season under Wilder as well, I don’t think Carrick can take all the credit.

Sometimes players just come of age a bit later and the penny drops. He always had talent.

He regularly speaks about researching his team mates and opposition, which is something I’m fairly certain he didn’t used to do.

He's priceless at the moment. Obviously had talent in abundance, but it's his application and professionalism that has allowed him to fully unleash his talent.
I love to watch him get the ball in midfield surrounded by 2 or 3 opposition players and he'll invariably find space to play in.
He's such a big part of everything good we do and I'd love to see him do it for us in the PL.
Carrick seems to have got them playing in a very PL way and I'd like to think that if we do go up then we'd strengthen enough to just up that level like Brentford have done.

I did some work at Chuba's old secondary school a few years back, the staff only had positive things to say about him as a person, the school nurse had a photo of him on the wall. Worth noting his school produced plenty of footballers but only Chuba was spoken about so highly as a person. Sadly I couldn't say much to the students as it was when he was on loan in Greece. I would love to be there now to discuss it!

Just watching efl highlights and chuba interview where it was mentioned the last boro player to score 20 league goals was probably Ravenelli. It was almost as they they'd done no research at all and were just guessing lol. Tbf to Chuba he did sort of correct him and mention Bernie.
Loved that interview, didn’t think I could rate him more at the moment, but the mention of Bernie messaging him was superb. Typical Slaven, reminding him of his record, believe that was the season we nearly went down wasn’t it Bernie?!

Akpom has been a revelation this season.
I can give him no greater compliment than he would look absolutely at home in the current Arsenal side.

I hope we can keep on the upward trend, get promoted and have him as a key player in the top flight.
His all round game is now very much Premier League and he stands out every single match as so.

It is also lovely when success is happening for such a great bloke.

You can't really say that about Wilder he was away on loan when he arrived, then did well at the start of this season. Warnock certainly didn't get anything out of him
Wilder had his hand forced to play him - Akpom came back from Greece, we couldn't get rid of him, couldn't sign the strikers he wanted (and Larsen) so we were left with Chuba, two "development" players (😉) and a young lad.

No squad number, chucked into the team through desperation and .....rest is history. Absolutely certain if Gayle and Mcgoldrick had come here Chuba might have made the squad at best.

Wilder has form for berating players in public, throwing players under the bus, and dropping them. I believe if Chuba hadn't hit form then he would have been on the naughty step with Dijksteel, Fry etc. But hey, just an opinion, who knows.

In August, no-one would have imagined in a million years Chuba would be Championship top scorer in February. Funny old game football 👍

As you say he was used under duress mainly to show Gibson how desperate we were for Gayle.

There’s no doubt he was in the path out once the real targets arrived.

You realise it's more of an achievement to score goals in a struggling team than a flying one though don't you?
Scoring 32 Goals for a team who only escaped relegation on the last day of the season is a remarkable achievement. He also scored 17 goals in the previous season when we did get relegated. I don't think Bernie gets the credit he deserves, a player who achieved those two seasons tallies today in those circumstances would be worth £25 million plus.
Anyway if you want to reply you can email me at iambernieslaven@hotmail.com if you want to.🤪

Whilst I'm here Chuba is the best Boro player I've seen since Viduka probably.

I said the same today. The first was clearly outstanding but the second more of a goal scorers goal.
