Christine and the Queens - Redcar?

Cherisse Osei. I love her. A real force of nature...playing the drums in high heels! šŸ‘Œ

I noticed that. Pretty incredible.

I like watching drummers in general, but I've developed an appreciation for female drummers ever since seeing the fantastic Kirsten with WHITE (now with One Nine) and Gabby from Venus Grrls. Bridie Stagg from Priestgate is excellent too. I don't think any of them wear high heels while drumming, but I will have to check now. You kind of just assume they won't and I suppose their feet are usually hidden from the audience by the bass drum.

That's the good thing about the JH show, you get a lot of different camera angles and see things you wouldn't normally during performances. And you see new bands, like Redcar/Christine and the Queens.

A lot of Minds fans are still upset that Mel Gaynor, the previous drummer, left and that there are more females in the band, but I like the change in dynamic. They're never going to be that band they were in the early to mid 80s, but they still do a great live show. I saw them in Leeds in April and it was one of the best Minds gigs I've been to, and I've been to a few. Maybe I was just glad to be back seeing live music post-Covid!

There was certainly more, ā€œbehindā€the drums shots when she was on than I remember seeing beforeā€¦giving the director the benefit of the doubt, maybe that particular room gave the camera guy better access than the usual studio set upšŸ˜‰
Those were proper heels. Itā€™s probably alright if youā€™re doing 2-3 numbers on tv rather than a two hour show. Wonder if she wears them for the stage set? As my mate says. ā€œSheā€™s got good handsā€

Just seen Redcar performing on Later. Really enjoyed it.

First heard about Christine and the Queen's when Elton John picked them out of the archives of the show. Not that long ago.

The female drummer in Bodega is pretty spectacular

article in the guardian quite a long read but name according to him is becauseā€œI self-gender as maleā€) and would be using male pronouns from then on. About the same time, he started calling himself Redcar, or Red, rather than Chris. This name comes from the cars he kept seeing when his mum died, and forms part of the title of his new album" red

I skimmed the article. Is this genuine or a spoof?

The last time I saw Simple Minds was in Harrogate
Their encore was ā€˜donā€™t you forget about meā€™
As I was bouncing around my phone went from my sonā€¦ā€¦.
it was important
Rickets had just scored the winner at Spurs

The rest is history
It was a late equaliser wasn't it? Just as important with the ultra cool French Frank getting the winner in penalty shootout
