Talking to a lad at work this morning he says Atsu still hasn’t been found after the earthquake. I thought they had confirmed the other day he was in hospital? Poor man.

Crazy that! Why would they say he’d been rescued if he hadn’t? Doesn’t sound good for him if he still hasn’t t been found.
 
As I said on the morning of the quake, this is a major catastrophe and, sadly, my estimate of a deathtoll in the tens of thousands was correct. It's indicative that the toll will keep climbing for some time that they are still, slowly, recovering bodies from collapsed buildings. I was in Hatay a couple of years ago for work. Building quality is, for most of the population there, pretty poor.

I hope the lad was killed more or less instantly and didn't have to suffer days waiting to be rescued.

Building work may be poor but an earthquake of that magnitude is going to flatten a lot of buildings and cause a lot of injury and death.
 
I read he had been found with injuries - missed the update a day later this wasn't the case and he was still missing. Thought no more of it.

Woke up to the awful news this morning, genuinely shocked. 😢

His death is just a microcosm of the tragedies engulfing the lives of countless families in that area. No words.
 
Such awful news. I just saw this on YouTube. Was set to leave the country that day as well. RIP
