Chris Wilder

There's a guy on the Not The Top 20 podcast who went through a spell of asserting that Chris Wilder is the best football manager *in the world*.

I wonder if he maintains that stance when he takes over at League One Reading following his disastrous spell at Watford.

He's an interesting one Wilder, we loved him for a period, but he's now sort of become viewed by our fans how McClaren would have been viewed had he had us in the relegation zone at the end of his first season and then jumped ship before we went down.
Wilder is a guy who can’t achieve 1ppg with a team that is capable of automatic promotion in the championship.. I really hope he holds out for the Leeds job.

I'm not sure we can put all the blame on Wilder for the sh1t show at Watford, I think the club and players need to take some of the blame. Wilder was onto a loser from the off but calling out the players (we all know how that pans out) didn't help his cause and I am sure a few players went through the motions for him.

I said after he left the Boro he would have to drop back into L2 or lower to rebuild his career. Alan McInally called him out on Sky whilst praising what Carrick had done with the same group of players.

I pity any club he ends up at.

The stars aligned for Wilder when at Sheff Utd - that first season in the Premier League, everyone underestimated them and every player was having the season of their lives, he does deserve credit for that promotion and first season in the EPL. When it was going well, his honest and abrupt interviews where lauded as a breath of fresh air and i remember hearing fans saying he deserves a shot at one of the top teams.

Since then its been pretty much a disaster for him. The breath fresh air interviews became what they where - Wilder blaming everyone but himself, including the players he has picked. I felt similar when we got Strachan, a no nonsense, will tell it as it is manager but again, disaster.

He is outdated and toxic and unless its all going smoothly he will add to a clubs problems. Lower leagues is probably where he suits and id be surprised if he got a top job again.

At this point the name on the mangers door is just a cut out side of a Crunchy Nut box with their name wrote in pencil and stuck on with a couple of slightly fluffy bits of blue tac.
Toblerone on his desk with his name crudely sellotaped on to it.

Its on now....

Interesting programme - CW talking about his Sheff United time and the jump from Championship to Premier league.

Also there is a :

Money and stats person with money facts covering the last 20 years (Kieron)

Ex player from QPR's time in the Premier League with Harry Rednapp 2012 - 2014 (Nathan)

Current Luton chairman (need to spend £13m on their current old stadium, mainly for the media for August)

Huddersfield Director (Ann Huff) from 2016 to now

They should ask him how he got such a good squad of players to relegation candidates then got absolutely out shone by a rookie. That's a good story

They could ask any number of managers the same, Wilder did well with a team that Warnock was struggling with, then ultimately failed.

We saw some very good football under Wilder, let's not forget that.

He was given stick on here for his prediction of who would qualify for the play offs, particularly over Coventry from what I can remember.
