Chris Wilder Says... Answer to me from Press Conference

What part of the system caused McNair to not track back after Crooks lost the ball?

What part of the system caused Fry to get completely done by Ng?
Don't know. Hopefully there will be analysts at the club better qualified than me to identify that.

McNair is a midfielder put in defence when we have good defenders on the bench Fryis a top class defender made do his job & those around him without help hope it changes 2morro but wilder only knows how to play one way ask the bookmakers they are making good money on him.

The system says McNair was playing RCB but that position should be getting forward and supporting the attacks. It relies on good, quick passing interplay. McNair played a dreadful ball to Crooks and then didn't recognise the danger and move back into his defensive position. When McNair went forward Fry should have covered the RCB position and Clarke should have covered the CB position.

None of those things happened. Fry remained static in the CB position, McNair was out of position and has the pace of a slug so the gap was massive and didn't need a perfect pass, just a simple one. Fry was the only defender so tried and failed to play offside instead of just defending.

That resulted in a simple one on one or an easy pass across the goal because Clarke had got back too late so wasn't even in a position to stop their attacker on the right having a tap in if the goalscorer had chosen to pass.

That goal was down to the system. A single mistake in the opposition half shouldn't result in such an easy goal. The system could've worked if people had done their job properly but from Wilder's comments I don't get the impression he's recognised that.

Muniz scoring a couple and looking effective is certainly one of our positives right. Ie while the team has been underperforming. So when we start to click ( we will honest ) he will likely look even better

Players not tracking their man has been a theme all season - it was a big factor which led to us conceding the third goal the other night.

It appears to me that players don't know who they're supposed to be tracking at times. I'm not sure that's down to individual error, moreso poor coaching.

Under Karanka we were well drilled and every player appeared to understand what their role was with and without the ball.
