Chris Wilder Press Conference

He gave a more in depth answer than just that.

Sorry, he also said transfers are really difficult and we're working hard, and nothing's happened until they're holding up the scarf/shirt and there's a 12pm cut-off point and we need improving and to keep working.

No information on the actual transfers themselves except for the usual "it's difficult".

Same old rubbish! I’m guessing we will say akpom is like a new signing when we fail to bring in anyone

"Boro like the player and were willing to spend around £8 million to bring him to the Riverside, but as things stand, Groningen's valuation of £12 million is beyond what Boro are willing to pay and Teesside Live understands they have moved on to other targets for the time being, while very much still keeping tabs on if the situation with Strand Larsen should Groningen's stance soften as the window progresses.

But with Groningen not believed to be in a situation where they need to sell financially, Boro aren't convinced that will happen, but have many other options to explore. It's understood they are close to one other striker deal being concluded, with club officials understandably wanting to keep that under wraps for the time being until that is completely finalised. "

There's a bit from the Gazette in relation to Larsen later in the press conference.
Sounding less like we'll sign him from that.

Muniz or Hoppe the other striker, presumably.

Better news. So sounds like 1 is pretty much done, would guess Muniz. And we are moving on from Larsen.

‘Asked about the club's bid for Strand Larsen on Friday morning, manager Chris Wilder confirmed the bid, but confirmed he wasn't the only player they had bids in for. He said: “We’ve put bids in for Strand Larsen, that is correct. I’m not so sure if it’s two bids or not, but we have put a bid in for the player. There is no hiding from that.’

II’m a straight batter but I can’t fib. We’ve put a bid in for that player, but we have bids in for two or three players that are ongoing. So hopefully we can see some movement on that front over the weekend, but as it is now, we travel to London with the same group we had last weekend, with the addition of Paddy McNair. I think we all understand it’s not how we would like it to look, and I’m sure it won’t be how it looks when the window shuts.’

Yeah, sounds slightly more encouraging for the other targets.

I wouldn't be happy with us paying that much for Larsen, so I don't blame them for moving on.

It's in the public domain that we have bid for Larsen and Greaves this week, but their clubs want more than we are prepared to pay. Unless the players themselves are pushing for moves to Boro there isn't really much else we can do. Sounds like the situation regarding the loans is unchanged and we are waiting on the ok from the parent clubs. Not really much more that the recruitment team can do at the moment unless we want them to pay over the odds or buy a player we aren't really sure about?

Think you miss my point. Last week it was reported on here that Wilder seemed annoyed and frustrated. I wasn't there last week but was today I told the story to illustrate Wilder's mood. I wasn't trying to show off etc it was just to let you know he seemed extremely relaxed and positive about things.
I felt it was the least I could do to get Wilder's mood across to everyone.

3 points at QPR will raise everyone’s mood and we should do this with last weeks team plus Paddy.

I got the impression those 2 signings were a lot more advanced than 'we've made bids'.

Wilder on Saturday evening made out they were virtually a done deal and he said both nearly made the squad for WBA.

If they were only at the 'bidding' stage, then they were nowhere near being close to the squad.

Either Wilder was lying last Saturday, or something has gone amiss.

I'll be disappointed if no journalist/reporter asked him about it.

It's the elephant in the room.
I think there is another option, which is that those deals are agreed with the parent clubs, presumably for Muniz and Choudry, but won't be signed off until they get their own replacements in.

The squad is obviously compromised at this very moment in time. Basically we have 16 outfield players several of which I doubt are in CW short or long term plans. Early days yet but I’m sure CW will be instructing the players not to go in hard to remain injury free and reduce risk of yellow cards etc. It’s not the type of team talk you want at this stage of the season.

Nah he won’t be doing team talks like that in a league game with 3 valuable points away up for grabs at QPR. It’s not a friendly.
