China reports highest number of new cases for 6 weeks

The numbers have been consistently high, but they lie about their real figures and the mainstream media outside of China quotes them like gospel. There have been outbreaks in Suifenhe which is a small city on the Russian border, Guangzhou which is a major city in the south of China and in Sichuan province they're providing 52,000 extra hospital beds.

Zorro is right, they've turfed out Africans out of their hotels and apartments. The local authorities tried to spin it saying some of them had expired visas (which were lies). There are more signs in shops/gyms/hotels/restaurants that say 'no foreigners allowed'. It doesn't seem too bad in Beijing or Shanghai, even though it does happen, elsewhere it is getting really bad.

I'm in the process of getting my stuff together after 6 years living here, and I am never coming back after the levels of racism me and my friends have experienced recently.

They can no longer play the 'foreigners are to blame' card any more since they closed their borders 2 weeks ago now and their imported cases are now Chinese nationals. Still, it won't stop the CCP from continuing to blurt out more propaganda and allow anti-foreigners posts and comments to go viral.

The UK press aren't saying they're blaming foreigners. They are saying it's Chinese nationals returning (with local transmission beginning to start in Heilongjiang). Are Chinese papers not reporting what we're hearing from official Chinese reports?

What have you been doing in China for 6 years Mitch? You sound like you don't particularly like the Chinese.

Why, because he's being honest about the racism and ridiculous Government behaviour that lead to all of this?

Go read an ex pat board or join a Facebook group if you doubt his stories, it's happening all over SEA unfortunately and it's lead by Government propoganda.

Our local Chinese takeaway closed about two weeks before the lockdown because of similar sentiments in this country.

Mick had said he has lots of good Chinese friends on another post, as I have. Ultimately it's these friendships that will win through against totalitarian thought control.

Are British nationals able to use uncensored internet in China?

What's your point with the first paragraph?

It's not a competition, racism doesn't counter racism. It's also not that comparable given the CCP are rolling out propoganda pieces and have been for weeks suggesting this was a western invention, rather than something they are ultimately responsible for. That's a bit different than some racist and ignorant people over here.

The majority of my time in China has been fine and I have never felt threatened or had issues with personal safety here. When you refer to 'the Chinese' I hope you are aware I have Chinese friends and colleagues who have been nothing but lovely to me since I have been here. I don't like the government, in fact I despise it more and more after what has been happening to muslims in Xinjiang province and the cover ups and disappearance of people who speak out against the government's actions.

Every person has their breaking point, would you want to stay in a place where shops turn you away based on your nationality and local governments issuing directives to hospitals not to treat foreigners yet continue to treat Chinese nationals?

This place is turning into Orwell's 1984 more by the day, I wish I could say to you that it's only a small minority that are being racist and attacking foreigners, sadly it is on the increase and nothing is being done about it.

Bear, your argument is pathetic. I hear this from Chinese nationals all the time, that they've suffered racist attacks abroad too. And whilst that is shocking, please keep in mind they are protected by the rule of law overseas and it is widely condemned amongst local populations. Here in China, nobody has battered an eyelid to the signs going up, the police have done nothing and the Chinese propaganda machine is fuelling it everyday.

I am genuinely interested in what work you're doing in China.? Also I'm sure I've read that the internet is censored in China - is this not the case?

I work in the education sector and we're still not back at work. I have a very reliable VPN, from what I've heard from others, they're not having much joy with theirs, seems like they're clamping down on them even more than usual.
