Cherries putting on free coach travel for Middlesbrough trip

Cherries are offering supporters free coach travel for the early trip to Middlesbrough in December.

The game is scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 18, with an earlier kick-off time of 12.30pm to accommodate for live broadcasting

Although accommodating for live broadcasting, the schedule change certainly doesn’t accommodate for the paying supporters who have to get up there for such a time.

With a round trip of 604 miles, supporters coaches will begin the journey from Weymouth as early as 1.15am, eventually departing Vitality Stadium at 3am in the morning.

The club have said: “In order to obtain your free coach travel, simply select your coach pick up point as normal when purchasing a ticket and the cost will be free at the check out.”

Tickets will go on sale to supporters with 10+ away points on Wednesday, November 17, reducing incrementally until general sale begins on Wednesday, December 1.

Coach travel and pick-up points:

Weymouth (Esplanade K1 Bus Stop) 1.15am

Dorchester (Tesco Fountain) 1.30am

Poole (Train Station) 2.10am

Branksome (John Lewis Bus Stop) 2.20am

Vitality Stadium 3am

Ringwood (Bus Stop) 3.10am

[Any Boro fans sneaking on board???]

The sponsors gave us free coach travel to Swansea City away as reward for yet another away draw in the League Cup - was it something like our 12th consecutive away draw in the midweek competition?

Bus journey time must be 6.5 hours plus a stop? - they could be at the Riverside by 10.00am.
Sounds like it's multi pick up points so the first ones to get on are on hours longer than the last ones to embark.

Kind of like a mega bus. Fair play to anyobe getting on a coach at that time for a tv game, I wouldn't.

I’m struggling to see why sky are the villains in this. If the game kicked off at 3pm would they be bringing 3,000 the week before Christmas?

if you are going to get on a bus to come up here does a two hour earlier pick up make any difference? You get home two hours earlier. Now lots more fans get to watch the game.

its such a ridiculous return trip to make in a day I don’t think the KO matters,

It definitely matters if you have to catch a bus at 1am.
We had a 12.30 kick off at Cardiff - almost as bad. If you cannot afford to stay over then you have to get up very early indeed and it takes a bit of recovering from.

Yeah, of course the hard core get the thin end. But 1 am or 3 am does it make a difference? You get back at 11 not 1 am. It’s rough either way

have Boro ever done that?
Pretty sure we did it for Swansea away in the cup a few years ago under Mowbray. I went on it and pretty sure it was free. Sky sports news were at the riverside asking Boro fans about it before we set off for the big drive
