Chelsea full squad

The wage bill must be astronomical. Also so many players on these ridiculous 5-6 year contracts.

The gaffer was moaning the other day that they are being forced to sell due to PSR. Just an idea. Don't buy so many players 😂

They're basically gambling on selling most of them on for profit

But having spent £90m on the likes of Mudryk I'm not sure if everything's going to plan :D

Although Chalobah, Lukaku and Broja are all banned from being anywhere near the first team, not allowed to use first team facilities and have to train with the under 21s, bit of a shitter isn't it.

I get that young players back themselves to succeed anywhere and big clubs are hard to turn down, but… I can’t for the life of me understand why any young talent would go anywhere near Chelsea. Especially on a 7 year contract. It doesn’t even vaguely resemble a football club anymore.

Why does the league allow unlimited domestic loans? I think overseas is now limited to 6.

Must be the easiest rule fix in history to cap all loans out at, say, 8 which still seems generous, and nip this stockpiling nonsense in the bud forever.

Simply because with that contract they then set for life. Football is a short career & it can all be over in the blink of an eye with a bad injury.

Article about this from the BBC.
Including ‘ Meanwhile, rivals will also ask how Chelsea can keep spending amid such restrictive Premier League profit and sustainability rules (PSR).
Again, the Blues will point to player sales but have also effectively needed to sell two hotels – the Millennium and the Copthorne – to themselves for £77m, which is believed to have allowed them to remain compliant with PSR.’

How is that legal

Absolutely true - would you not want to go somewhere where you’ll actually play though, with a bit of stability and a bit of sport and glory? Rather than being a commodity?

I think a few players are about to find out that 7/8 years is a hell of a long time. I can see a few either spending their best years being hawked around on loan or in limbo if other clubs won’t take on their contracts and Chelsea won’t pay them up. And most of them won’t reach their potential, how can you play when you’re one of 8 keepers or 9 left wingers?
