That will take their winter transfer spending to over £300m.

And their total spending for the season to over £564m.

Absolutely staggering sums of money.

And they won't even be in the Champions League next season - unless of course they win it this year.

Benoit Badiashile - £35m
David Fofana - £8m
Andrey Santos - £18m
Mykhailo Mudryk - £62m
Noni Madueke - £29m
Malo Gusto - £35m
Enzo Fernandez - £120m

July/August 2022
Raheem Sterling - £47.5m
Kalidou Koulibaly - £33m
Gabriel Slonina - £8.1m
Carney Chukwuemeka - £20m
Marc Cucurella - £56m
Cesare Casadei - £13m
Wesley Fofana - £69.5m
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - £10.3m

When do these changes come into effect and what are they.
changing the maximum term of a contract to 5 years.

80 mil transfer fee with the player on a 8 year contract = 10 mil per year for FFP accounting purposes
80 mil transfer fee with the player on a 5 year contract = 16 mil per year for FFP accounting purposes

Not sure it makes a huge difference but stops clubs making ludicrous decisions over contract lengths.

it does if there are 10 of these scenarios

also, you have to remember that a 100% of a sale counts towards FFP, so they just need to sell 1 or 2 fringe players each season to offset that years FFP burden

Clubs are also eradicating the cost of its over the years and inflation makes the value less later down the line

Can anyone realistically ever see this bubble popping eventually? Or are the prices of players just going to continue to rise and rise with more and more billionairs buying clubs. Tbh I can only see it getting worse I dont know if I'm right in thinking American football and basketball players sell for a lot more than ours plus I think football will be moving away from sky and more towards its own streaming services which will mean even more money

American football don't have transfer fees. If they trade it is for future draft picks, not cash. They are a closed system so they can operate a salary cap model effectively. They are guaranteed to make billions each year and the negotiations are basically the players collective bargaining agreement getting their fair share from the revenue generated. Compare that to football where player's salaries regularly exceed the revenue a club makes and that's before everything else is paid for.

It's all just accounting and if the revenue keeps coming in via TV, champions league qualification etc then there's no reason why it won't keep going. There is the obvious risk (because it still is a competition) of a disaster season and ending up getting relegated and losing that future revenue which is why they are pushing for the guaranteed income of a Super League.

It would really suit the billionaire owners to turn football into a closed system like the NFL where they can guarantee that revenues will continue indefinitely.
