Ched Evans

Agreed, even if he proved half decent I'm not sure it's worth the trade off of the controversy around him.

I think he's a bit 'old' and hardly prolific in the champo. Although apparently he's done alright at PNE.

I'm not fussed about the baggage. He was found not guilty. If anything it only proves than once you've been accused of certain crimes you'll never shake them off (that's in any walk of life). I guess it would bring some stick from opposition fans... We've had worse.

I'm not sure he's the answer to our none scoring forwards but I'm sure being free he's well in the 'bracket'

I heard Micky Gray on Talksport talking about how Boro wanted Charlie Wyke. He said Sunderland should get shot as he 'doesn't know what he does' other than the goals. I'm not sure that was a glowing reference... also free👍

Also linked in the same artical to Jack Stevens (Oxford goal keeper). Only 23 but absolutely no idea if he's any good.

He was completely innocent- naive perhaps but set up by an attention seeking woman. On a free would be a great piece of business holds up the ball well.

That couldn't be further from the truth. People may remember the original thread on the old board after he had been found guilty. I was one of only a handful saying he was innocent and got pelters for it. I read the entire trial transcript. Whilst he was never guilty he certainly wasn't manipulated or set up. His behaviour was reprehensible but it wasn't illeagal.

The woman was blameless in the entire thing.

He caused us some problems the other week. If we had a player in the “traditional “ CF role we be able to start playing higher up the pitch.
It’s exactly what we need but a younger quicker version would be better but unfortunately we will not be awash with cash this summer

Don’t think he’s good enough, if this is the type of player we will sign then we could be in for a worse season than I thought next year.

Morning laughing...

The defendent didnt accuse him of "rape" .... Like all legal cases it was more complicated than the simple stories made to fit "journalists" narrative.

Which is why I said she was blameless and never led him on nor seeked attention, quite the opposite. The entire case painted the CPS in a vey poor light.

Apologies if this offends anyone, just after the case I was in sheffield for a meet up with Martin Simpson and a bar maid in the local described the alleged victim as "wanting spit roasting and getting it". I don't agree with her sentiments but does, to a degree, illustrate peoples attitudes to the case.

Proving his guilt was a fools errand and was based on a very limited interpretation of the law.

Evans didn't come out of the appeal with any integrity intact, just his freedom restored and a payday.
