Charlie Wyke

I heard Sunderland 'legend' Michael Gray taking about him on talkshite doing the Sunderland game two weeks ago.

He actually slated him. He said he offers absolutely nothing off the ball and for a big lad not particularly good at holding the ball up. He also actually said Boro were linked with him and he'd drive him and they should cash in (isn't he available on a free?)

It seemed strange as he had 25 goals at the time. Adrian Durham even laughed😂

The sunlun fans I know all say the same it’s weird he scored for them and they don’t rate him.

See where they would ge if you take his goals away, a midtable 1at division team

Well he scored another 2 today but the rest of the team couldn't do their part & squantered a two goal lead

29 goals 5 assists , that is a great contribution .
Only Charlie and Warnock will know if we want him , and he wants to come.
I will let them decide .
Him or Juke ?
Wyke all day long .
Juke is 32 year old !

I haven't spoken to Charlie or his parents about this but I am sure the three of them, with his agent, have discussed his options and will be looking to see how Sunderland finish this season. Either way, Charlie will have a few offers on the table - there was talk of a championship club wanting him to move south in the January window.

* Personally, I think he would be foolish to leave Sunderland if they get promoted. I would suggest he stays put and I know my younger brother mentioned this to him and he takes note of what he says. Charlie is settled at Sunderland and they are playing a system that suits his game. Previous Sunderland managers played him up top on his own and without any wide men - he was never going to score.

My wider family are all proud of what Charlie's achieved so far and being big football fans, he's usually the topic of discussion when we get together. Charlie is a honest lad with two great parents, a loyal younger brother (who was the better footballer who walked away from our academy) and these would knock him back down to earth with a bang if he got too big for his boots.

Only Charlie will know what his decision is.

But being a Boro fan would he not regret it later if he had the chance to come here and decided against it.

Wish him look wherever he goes.

He best come as a BOGOF with McGeady as he crosses for most of his headers😂

The funny thing is that Sunderland were trying to force McGeady out at the start of the season and had him training with the U23s.

He's been arguably their best player this season.

Think it was more the fact he was on 20k a week in league 1. That's why they couldn't shift him sat on the remainder of a long deal (sound familier with two of ours? 🙄)
