It's a rivalry.
2 matches in a season isn't as fun as 46 of them still being in League One.

I get more enjoyment out of seeing Sunderland not promoted than I do from 2 matches in a season.
I enjoyed their relegation from the Championship more than our win and draw against them.
Believe me Sunderland is just his place of work to him.He's a Boro lad and fan , I'm sure a bit of pressure and gentle persuasion from the family members on here would swing it.
We could bring Jordan Jones home too , now that would be good

Each to their own mate, just enjoy the matches against them. I have this argument with my old man all the time, who incidentally actually went to Roker Park to see them get relegated against Liverpool in the 70s. Which takes it to another level.

No good him coming here the fans would have his life. Many don't seem to like local lads playing for Boro and do nothing but slag them off. 
On a serious note I have never really watched him play so I don't know if he looks decent or not but his record is outstanding this year. Lots of goals with his head as well. If his contract is really up it would be extremely bad management from Boro if we were not aware of it and were not having a look at him. If we were interested the feelers should have already gone out given his local connections. That said there has been no posts from the usual ITK suspects.

part of the reason I don’t want them to win anything , old wounds don’t heal . Rivalry was a bit more animated in the old days !

Key to signings is , are they going to play regularly / be available .
Karanka probably wishes he spent £500k on Charlie Wyke , than £2.2m on Sam .
And we can get Charlie on a free ? And people question it ?

As a squad player perhaps, as a first team regular I would be worried. He won't get a kick against Sheff U, West Brom and Newcastle defenders next year if he's with us. Need someone with a bit more technique as a first choice. We need to find our own Lukas Joao, Kieffer Moore, Dom Solanke type. Big and powerful, but with either lots of pace like Solanke, quick feet like Joao or a good touch like Moore. I'm not sure that Wyke has anything other than a bit of bullying and ok finishing. But for free, yes, we might need 3 forwards so might be worth a punt.

On a more serious note all players stepping up a division are gambles. Remember that bloke who went to Leeds who would never make it in the PL.
