Charlie Wyke

While coaching at Boro, Curtis Fleming said publicly good luck to him at Sunderland, maybe he will return to the Riverside one day if successful. And he felt he would be successful.

I wonder if theres anything in the way he never appears to celebrate when scoring for Sunderland?

Anyway, Luton are apparently sniffing around him according to Radio Newcastle's Total sport show.

In his first 2 seasons for Sunderland he scored 9 league goals. That's at league 1 level and for a team in and about the playoffs.

The difference in quality between the Championship and League 1 is huge.
Charlie scored on his debut and got a serious injury when he first signed and it kept him out for a long time.

I would hate for him to play for the Boro - I would get into more trouble than enough the way our so called fans call our forwards.
Point taken ! but it doesn't help not to criticise even your own player when he can laugh about missing penalties and open goals. I don't think that would be Charlie's attitude, or indeed the vast majority of professional players.

Seems a lot like Danny Graham. Didn't quite have what it took to break through at Boro so went elsewhere and got the experience he needed to do very well at a lower level. He probably wouldn't be doing what he is now if he stayed here and may just end up back here in a season or two if he keeps his goalscoring form up.

Happy for the lad, but I don't think any blame can be put on the club for him not breaking through here. And there's a chance that League One is his level.

Cannot fault the return.

Would be very interesting to see what happens if Sunderland hopefully fail to get promotion, surely Championship clubs will be looking.

Not sure about this one, he was under a lot of pressure from the fans until recently, but has definitely turned things around.
