Charlie Goode - CB from Northampton

View attachment 5190

Linked with a 24 year old, 6ft 5" CB with a long throw.
Got good reviews, I imagine Ronnie Jepson has recommended him after spending most of the season at Northampton Town.
Good point re Jepson. If true last seasons philosophy of buying younger promising players to improve them might still stand. It's always a bit of a gamble but if he's captain at 24 in a tough league he probably has the personality we need.

QPR and Middlesbrough have placed bids of just under £500,000 for Northampton Town captain Charlie Goode.

Goode’s form last season has been attracting interest from Championship clubs, with Brentford also monitoring his situation.

Sky Sports News understands the bids from QPR and Boro are short of Northampton’s valuation of their skipper, who guided the club to promotion.

Goode is keen to make the step up but will consider all his options before deciding.

He's a unit👍

The Jepson link will help and he's definitely seen plenty of him. It may also sway him away from QPR.

I read he's a defender who just defends. No thrills when everyone seems to want ball playing CBs. Sounds exactly like what Warnock asked for.

Every defence needs an 'if in doubt, kick it out merchant', who just heads and hoofs away everything, including the kitchen sink.

Dicking about with it on the edge of your own penalty area is overrated.

Captained a promoted side last season at age 24.

however Div 2 to Championship is a big jump.

Jepson will know better if he can make the jump.

Actually watched a bit of him and was very impressed , old fashioned centre half , and a leader . Team player , captain , beast , strong , young , athletic , ticks all the boxes 👍
