I post Middlesbrough Council coms media releases - because I know lots of people do not get the Gazette and lots of releases get lost and they can contain some important info or relate to people and places locally. They are not written by the mayor but from the council team. But also I say they are media releases.Yes, I’ve noticed a fair few (almost to the point of spamming) pro Preston updates that never seem to gain traction.
Helping a friend out I guess..

search your posts and the ones with no replys.. those are the ones that you give a platform to Andy Preston.
It is what it is.I post Middlesbrough Council coms media releases - because I know lots of people do not get the Gazette and lots of releases get lost and they can contain some important info or relate to people and places locally. Read that post above again and you will see that I was actively posting something against Andy Preston's council policy. I related the fact that I litter pick with Andy etc and I have known him a long while to hopefully show how strongly I feel about this subject. There could soon be very little free cultural activity in Middlesbrough under council direction and I think that is a really bad situation to be in for the town. Very serious actually. I would still urge people living in Middlesbrough to make their opinions known.
I posted how disgusted I was at the posts about Rwanda. It is what it is.
Folks posing for photographs with him, giving him exposure and coverage give him credibility.. meanwhile he is criminalising poverty, punishing our most vulnerable and heaping demoralising stigmas upon the youth of Middlesbrough and Teesside.
How many posts of yours say:I posted how disgusted I was at the posts about Rwanda.
I try to promote Middlesbrough. I try to promote community endeavour in Middlesbrough. I publish council press releases to publicise things such as that campaign for food allergy awareness. I publish the hundreds of jobs because I wanted people to know about the Job's Fair. It says quite clearly it is a press release. Not an opinion.
They are media releases from Mbro Council. They say as much. How many posts of yours say:
“Middlesbrough Mayor Andy Preston said”?
five at least in December.. including the hunt for flytippers.. in the run up to xmas
Important stuff?
Spot on. I think some of the flak Rob is getting here is unwarranted, for me he seems like he wants to just promote Middlesbrough which is what we all want. We need all the help we can get.The mayor isn't the council, people shouldn't get confused with others who care about our area, support some of what the council is doing with being supportive of the guy who heads it.
Press ReleaseThey are media releases from Mbro Council. They ssy as much.
Information for the town the football club exists in and a large number of the readers. Information. Clearly labelled as Press Releases
No. I answered you. It is a Middlesbrough council press release. Giving information from Middlesbrough Council.Press Release
Middlesbrough Mayor Andy Preston said..
Andy Preston gets a platform, I said it, you questioned it and I answered.
Lol, I said Andy Preston gets a platform on here.. you we’re ‘who, what..eh’No. I answered you. It is a Middlesbrough council press release. Giving information from Middlesbrough Council.

Etc, etc..
But it doesn’t count because he’s your mate and some people don’t buy the gazzette or read the gazzette online and he is the mayor of the town that our club is in.. it’s a press release.. that comes from the council.. so nothing really to do with Andy Preston at all.. because it’s a press release and Middlesbrough is a town.
Rob said “It made me feel totally sick to think that in some way I was helping give a platform to people prepared to be offensive about charity shops and charity workers”Well, you're certainly getting your voice on here, using it as a platform/soapbox whatever. Not sure what your problem is? (And I'm no fan of the Mayor).
Are you convinced that what you have to say, or your antipathy towards Preston, is as interesting to the wider readership of this board as coucil press releases are? The readership of the board is, I suspect, well capable of reading Andy Preston quotes in a press release and applying their own critical faculties.
They are not Andy Preston's press releases - they are Middlesbrough Council press releases. Yes, he is the elected mayor but the releases are from the council press office, not the Andy Preston press office. I have been relaying these releases for many years, with many different elected mayors in office. Yes, they often (not always) carry quotes from Andy Preston but they are information about things happening in Middlesbrough. It could be restaurants opening, it could be roadworks on A66 it could be a jobs fair. It could be about a Citizen of the Year. It says press release therefore you can draw your own conclusions about the quotes. And I do not post all media releases I receive from Middlesbrough Council. And Middlesbrough being the home of The Boro is the reason I choose to relay this information.Rob said “It made me feel totally sick to think that in some way I was helping give a platform to people prepared to be offensive about charity shops and charity workers”
I said “Andy Preston gets a platform tho..”
Rob said “Does he?”
and then I showed that he did via Andy Preston’s press releases.
If your not sure what my problem is I will explain..
I said Andy Preston gets a platform on here and Rob insinuated that was not the case.
To be fair one of them said they're the cancer of the high street, despite a load of them being for cancer charities.Your rules I guess, but I didn't think it was that bad personally.
