Channel Migrants (Admin advisory. Contains disturbing image and repulsive views)

Some of the views in this thread are beyond abhorrent 😔.

We as a nation have massively contributed to the destabilisation of countries and entire regions. Due to this, humanitarian disasters have followed, leading to poor innocent families risking everything to flee their country.

Many want to come here because they speak our language or simply because it is safe.

For the good our country has done, we also have to accept the bad and with that, the consequenses, not just sit on our little island in blind ignorance declaring "we are full" while selling arms to questionable nations who are dropping bombs on civilians with made in Britain on the tip.
Great post CB

Can’t see any of RS’s posts, has he been banned? If he has he might think about joining COB board, he would fit right in over there.

Didn’t see he’s banned. He did delete some as he admitted he wrote something he shouldn’t have.
The other character Alan was banned but I don’t think he was a real poster.

By the way the 1951 Refugee Convention, UNHCR, EU or any other law pertaining to resettlement of refugees states they need to settle in the first safe country, it’s a myth that’s been put about by people who would like to defer the problem to someone else.

it is indeed a complex problem and I don’t have the answers, when you say myth though Mary it’s not like it was just plucked out of the air, there is some substance/legislation behind how refugees should be treated. Not the rules you mention but isn’t it the Dublin convention or some such legislation? I seem to remember that name as haven’t the Germans decided they will no longer abide by it given the large number of refugees it means they have to accept.[/QUOTE]

The Dublin convention is EU law and pertains mainly to when applying for asylum and the place of first application being binding across the Union, with free movement once in the EU it’s difficult to tie down a point of entry and given the geography of Germany, as a mainly landlocked country at the heart of Europe, they’re going to be one of the places least accessible as a first point of entry for people fleeing by land or sea.

Brexit was allowed to be hijacked by Farage, Johnson , Gove etc. who used it quite deliberately to make ‘mild racism’ acceptable. There is of course no such thing as ‘mild racism’, a racist is a racist full stop but Farage skilfully ignited a spark that had been smouldering in the sub culture of places like the North East for years. A sub culture that Foreigners add no value to GB, they take our jobs, they attack our women and children, they all get big houses and incredible hand outs. The truth is, as was proven in the Brexit debate, immigration actually adds value to the economy but nobody was listening as Farage found fertile ground for his seeds. Immigration is now a polarised almost dirty subject in this country as Brexit emboldened and gave a collective voice and cause to jingoistic xenophobia. The popular press like the Sun, Mail etc. fan the flames every day and encourage those who have said the repugnant things they have on here to do so. We need to be far more worried however of the tens of thousands in the North East who would absolutely applaud and champion the views expressed to sink the boats trying to cross the channel as our country continues to descend into a nation of have’s and have not’s and loses its compassion and hope to create a fair and just society. How you treat people in most need defines you as an individual and a nation. I find the debate in this country all very sad.

Post of the day.

As a father that photo of the lad is heartbreaking. But as a father I would never put my son in that position or risk his life for economic gain. That’s obviously not the channel but those that are crossing the channel are economic migrants and not fleeing persecution. We can’t even house and feed the homeless already let alone with the recession that’s coming this way.

I think you have that **** about face.

They stoked mild racism to make Brexit acceptable.

Immigration is now a polarised almost dirty subject in this country

It is on this board. Apparently they can smell you if you hold any view that immigration should be more tightly controlled.
That’s why the debate falls down. If you don’t let them all in then your racist. The left is as bad as the right for fanning the flames

Given the fact that immigration has proven to be economically positive for the UK, why be against it?

.......but those that are crossing the channel are economic migrants and not fleeing persecution. Proof ?

"We can’t even house and feed the homeless" (?)

Ask yourself what has happened in the last 40 years which has lead to at least half of our public housing stock being handed over to the private market?
Who made that decision and why?
Ask why Local Authorities have not been allowed to build thousands of houses for social need?
Who and what has prevented them?
Who has benefited from the transfer of tenancies to the private sector?
Why have more people with complex needs, especially mental health issues, ended up being homeless than 40 years ago?

Did "immigrants" close day centres, sure start centres, elderly persons homes, libraries, youth clubs, local resource centres, local post offices, withdraw local social bus services or farm out profitable NHS services to private vultures?

Have "immigrants" sold off British Telecom, Royal Mail, British Rail, British Steel, Water Utilities, Electricity generation and supply, British Gas, National Express, British Airports Authority, deregulated local bus and public transport infrastructure, reduced taxes on the rich whilst cutting public sector wages through under-inflation increases [see NHS Nurses]..................where did the "profits" go from the public purse?

Did "immigrants" bail out bankers who forced their own system to come crashing down?

The answer is not "immigrants" - but those in power and their friends.

It isn't so much left and right as compassion or lack of.

The perfect solution would be to have a two tiered tax system then everybody wins. The basic system where people pay what they have to and then a optional levy that people like r00fie can pay extra directly towards housing and feeding these economic migrants. These people can get the help they need and only those that want to pay and can pay towards them do so. It would allow people like r00fie to feel vastly superior to everyone else too. I suspect a lot of people that say we need to help these people though don’t actually want to pay themselves, they want everyone to pay, it’s a bit like the multimillionaire Geldof who I’m assuming is still waiting for those asylum seekers to move into his house. It’s all irrelevant to me anyway, I work in aviation so along with 10% of the population come October I probably won’t be paying any tax for years.
