Change Of Mood

Honestly, reading some of the posts on here about lack of transfer movement. Its like those people want an Amazon Prime of transfers (next day delivery). Just chill. If it happens, so be it, if it doesn't, ah well. It cannot be affected by whatever is said by us lot on a message board.
It's just a thought really buddy, in fact I'd say transfer chat is more akin to the type of stuff we should be chatting about on here rather than the constant political threads. Your point is fair, I just thought it was an interesting observation that a bit of the early season optimimism on here at least seems to have wained

I have a negative feeling too, ever since Akpom was brought back in that shows things aren't going well.

If we see Ikpeazu back involved, you know we're knackered.

CW said we're close so if nobody comes in before QPR, he looks daft, regardless if its on him or not, he's the one in front of the camera saying signings are close.

He doesn't look daft at all. Not at all.
The people informing him do.

Boro can't help the way the market is , they also can't change the deadline being do deep into the season. It will work our ok. We are ahead of most and have the money sat there, most teams still havnt shifted the players on to give them funds yet. We will be good so if we can all stop ******* the bed please .

But majority of Boro fans take hear from these people or even know they exist. They see CW as the manager, the bloke who said new signings are close and then another game goes by without them. I get it, you get it, alot of people don't.

To be fair pal I don't think Wilder looks daft, I think he has been miss lead, and by that I mean someone has made these things sound closer than they are. For me the club can't help they way the market is, however, we were too quick to sell Tav on the face of it. Selling him was correct, but with everyone else holding their players until things are sorted with incomings I can't see why we don't do the same, that is the side of it I don't understand, we leave ourselves short when others aren't prepared to do the same.

He doesn't look daft to me, i didn't mean that. I just meant to majority of non board members, those fans who aren't on socials, older generation perhaps, its Wilder who said we're close and if they dont come he's the face of the club thats why i think he's always better off saying absolutely nothing, no comment, can't say, direct the journalists to those on the board or Scott, Gibson etc deflect it away from him that way if/when transfers dont happen, it isnt on him - not that it ever was, but you know what i mean.

I definitely think he's been mislead a bit with transfers, Akpom being here is proof of that.

I completely agree we should have held Tav until we had a replacement, but if we wanted the money more than they wanted Tav, they could have said listen its now or never, they will have had other targets too?

Football is ***** sometimes.

Problem is year after year it is said still time in the window. And frequently we end the window with panic/ no buys. That is why it is easy to be sceptical.
Spot on - same old story every summer. Filled with a load of promise and in the end we don’t pull it off or the signings we do make are panic buys which don’t cut the mustard

Probably have to go back to the Karanka years to find the last decent summer transfer window.

I suspect underneath everything that is visible above the surface there is a lot of uncertainty at a lot of clubs as to what the next few months and years holds. Taking Leicester as an example, a side who won the Prem recently, have had Champions League football recently and are generally considered to be very well run. The reality is that they are having to sell to balance the books as best they can and haven't bought a single player in - fans won't like it but maybe this is about long term stability versus short term. Outside of the real elite teams, there feels to be a sense of pragmatism creeping in - I suspect that is what is happening with us.

I think the memorable season, the bullish interview from CW post PNE game and "nearly signed" statement on Saturday, all served to raise expectation that our obvious failings would be addressed. So far that's not happened, no doubt skewed by us having big transfer fees in our pocket, changing the price of some of our targets.
Quite some time to go re: transfer window and we will be waiting on clubs to give the green light.

I am suffering a doubly whammy on transfers. The Boro not doing much and UD Almería are struggling too.

UD Almería have got 6 new youngsters. Some on free transfers, some bought. Some for now, some for the future I think. Plus paid around 10 million in mandatory payments for transfers/extras triggered by our promotion.

At the moment we are short of 3 to 4 players that have experience in La Liga. With us kicking off against Real Madrid in 10 days.

We also need to shift some players out on loan or transfers to free up some of our wage bill due to FFP. Plus we need to sell Sadiq for 25 million euros (plus extras) all being well. To get us enough money to lubricate the recruitment of the experienced players .

Its ok saying the markets hard at the moment but we have failed to lure transfers season after season this is nothing new in fact many posters on here predicted it coming. Theres an innate failing at the club it's far more than current difficult market conditions. The fact that manager after manager have made really bullish statements early on only for them to be unfilled makes me feel someone at the club is making false promises.

I'm not going to be too downhearted yet.

Assombolanga and Fletcher were both July signings and we picked up Gestede as soon as the January window opened.

I said a while ago that there is something a tad off with Bausor, I mean we've pretty much changed every other position in the lab, including the recruitment team this year. I also think as fans we perhaps really underestimate the "location /reputation of the boro" to us its home, but to others i think they need a real "sweetner" in order to come here, wives girlfriends etc may be very tough to convince! And bow that we aren't offering silly money and outbidding other clubs like we used to, we are learning how hard it is to win players, particularly against southern teams. But for me a lot of the issues (MAY, and I mean may as I don't know the man) stem from Bausor.

Have to agree it's the same feeling as we have every year , Groundhog day.
We have tried really hard but ran out of time (again), 20 mil in the bank thanks very much.
As for location etc, the training grounds 40 to 50 odd miles from Harrogate/Bardsey area where many footballers live.

Certainly get the impression Wilder was told last week a couple of signings were almost done, not quite ready for WBA but should be okay early part of the week. Thursday.......still f*ck all happening.

Not Wilders fault at all, he just helps to identify the targets then it's over to Bausor to sort the contractual/finance side of it. No-one knows what's going on apart from the Boro hierarchy (and the gadge from OneBoro). Goalposts moved? Player asking for too much? Other (better) players becoming available? Contract issues - payments etc?

Nothing will happen then we will get 3-4-5 in at once. It's the Boro way.

Frustrating, but nowt we can do apart from moan and call Bausor a w*nker. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

I grew up in Harrogate (well wetherby but close enough), dad from boro so I inherited boro, growing up round there it was mainly leeds players in the area living in Linton. I saw ince in Harrogate on the stray walking his dog, schwazer was there and Southgate lived near Harrogate and Boetang lived in Bardsey next door to an old mate of mine. But after the heady prem days there seemed to be less and less living around the area. Or maybe the just weren't as recognisable lol
