Change Of Mood

I don't know if anyone else feels this, but the mood seems to be turning more negative with each "day of silence" on transfers. The problem is we were lead to believe that 3 were nearly announced before the game on Saturday, and now radio silence, it makes me wonder if Wilder has been a tad mislead by the recruitment team. Either way, we urgently need to avoid settling for a "Gestede" type signing in the last few days of the window!

I'll reserve judgement till the transfer window has passed. For now, I get that it's quite hard for most clubs to get deals over the line when the selling clubs are having to make sure their own house is in order first. From what Wilder has said recently I have every confidence we'll be in a much stronger position come the beginning of September.

There seems to be a general lack of activity in the market. I don't think it's just us. Just a lot of noise and little movement. My guess is that we are all involved in a game of brinkmanship once someone blinks and a fee is reduced there will be a cascade effect and we will see many more transfers completed.

It's about time that we either did away with transfer windows or only opened them outside the season.

I can see any transfers & loans into the Championship being on - hold - until after the PL clubs have completed most of their transfers - they can't loan out until they have brought in, that is what is holding everyone back I think.

Foreign clubs wanting to try & get as much out of the PL cash cow as they can.

Mallorca paid £3.15m for Hoppe & I guess they are wanting a profit. - https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/matthew-hoppe/profil/spieler/678194

Yes, I agree, it just makes the Tav sale all the more odd. We seem to be the only team that concludes these things as soon as the player registers an interest.

No need to panic!! there's plenty of time to get the right players signed, Its not FM where you want a player and he signs straight away. The whole transfer market is slow no ones selling and not many buying..
But as the month moves on, the market will open up and we are in a great position to get some good deals over the line..
Yes, I want the deals yesterday, but as long as we get the ones Wilder wants in then great....

Granted, my point was more on the side of (3 deals being almost done for Saturday, my suspicion that those deals may have fallen through, and finally, that it seems to be affecting people's early season optimism and may mean an iffy start to the season. I'm not normally bothered, but I do think it could cost us a few points in the 1st few games not having strikers in place. Seems a shame really as it looked like with a few extra players we would have battered west brom. Hey ho, as others have said we're not the only ones struggling, I just don't understand the haste in letting tav go, why not string that one out until late in the window too?

Yeah maybe we do let our players go quickly, but Tav wanted to go, so no need keeping an unhappy player at the club, you never know Greaves might have his head turned now, and might want to join the Boro revolution! or his agent will be trying to usher a deal... lets just wait and see..

Honestly, reading some of the posts on here about lack of transfer movement. Its like those people want an Amazon Prime of transfers (next day delivery). Just chill. If it happens, so be it, if it doesn't, ah well. It cannot be affected by whatever is said by us lot on a message board.

Wilder stated several are down the line. WTF does that actually mean. We certainly know how to drag deals out. Was quite easy to sell our crown jewels. Quite a different story replacing them.

“We could’ve had a couple in for today, it’s a case of a parent club or us signing it off.”

That was Saturday.

I personally think that if there were deals about to be confirmed then Akpom wouldn’t have been anywhere near the 18 last weekend. You don’t go from being bombed out completely and training on your own to starting a league game if there’s players all but signed and sealed. These deals either aren’t happening or they’re absolutely way off completion.

“He’s got a great attitude has big Uche, he’s worked hard, it’s like having a new signing.”

As we move in to the season Akpom and Uche should be no where near the first team squad. God forbid if those two start at QPR.
