Change at Garsdale for Hawes

In 2011 I was lucky enough to be passing through Garsdale with snow on the ground and took some shots at the station. No trains passed through and I didn't want to push my luck with the weather waiting but I'm still quite pleased with these shots...

I have just seen Tornado steaming into Middlesbrough Station. It was actually pushing the carriages as it came to a halt briefly on Albert Bridge before heading off towards Darlington a couple of minutes later.
Complete fluke I was passing at the time.

Thames-Clyde Express at Skipton.
Still with "British Railways" crest on Mk 1 coaching stock.
Looks like the boggies were still in London Midland Region Maroon [Crimson Lake] livery.

And passing through Dent [note different headcode]:
Dent.jpg

"Thames - Clyde" in its final days as Nottingham - Glasgow.
512 Brush 4`s were built at the Brush - Falcon Works in Loughborough.
The American owners announced this year that the factory will close before Christmas - signalling the end of railway engineering in the town - which dates back to 1865.

More of the Thames-Clyde [London St Pancras - Glasgow St Enoch] Express.

A "Crompton" [BR Class 44] hauling the Thames Clyde with the 1S 68 headcode.
It must have been 1959 or early 60s as the train is carrying the original headboard.
Looks like D10 "Tryfan"

Peak`s werent elegant engines like the Deltics - they were work-horses.

It was a rare sight seeing Peaks hauling Mk 2 or Mk 3
coaches.

Note pre-nationalisation coaching stock still in use in the early 1960s.

I'll bloody kill the lot of ya'!!

Just spent my lunch hour googling split headcodes and classes of diesel locos.

I remember back in the early / mid 80s there was a freight train that came through Thornaby just after 3pm weekdays that was more often than not hauled by either a class 45 or 46. I often popped down just to see this engine - never knew where it was coming from or going to though!
