Championship net spend per club over the last 5 years

I saw an interesting article on the thread title yesterday for anyone who is interested in this.

Can you guess what our net spend is over the last 5 years? There will of course be a number of teams who have played in the top flight and benefited as such.

According to the figures the greatest net spend is :-

Sheffield United on -£104m, that is they have spent more than they recouped.

The least net spend is:-

Swansea City on +£104m, being a profit on transfers over the same period.

Any idea what our net spend is? It is somewhere between the 2 above. I assume it is only transfer fees and does not include agents fees, loan fees, add-ons etc.

I will post the full list later.

Thanks

I think these lists are pretty much redundant as a meaningful measure, given they will certainly not had the benefit of knowing the cost of contracts, agent fees, additional bonuses and non-playing staff expenditure.

I'm not even sure they accurately know transfer fees, even more so given the complex nature of how most are structured these days.

I agree with all your points, any idea where there is a higher calibre version?

They had us down as getting Bernie from Burton Albion when we all know it was West Brom......

I think the only reasonably accurate figures are each clubs accounts when they are filed each year.

From a conversation with Steve Gibson over Derby County last season they have a pretty good measure of each club's financial state. Hence why they immediately knew something was amiss at Derby and Sheff Wed

I'm sure the EFL, and consequently each club, have a fairly good grasp of where each club is from day to day and the EFL will obviously have a detailed understanding given that clubs have to provide accounts way ahead of them being made public.

I was referring to the click-bait pieces that a lot of football website seem to do - I think its all very much guesswork.
