The fans of one shunned football team in Glasgow have the arz, because an Australian footballer chose the most watched league in Europe to ply his trade.

Its so hard for the hoops to understand they are only a "big club" in their own minds.

It takes their minds away from the fact no one wants to go there - only for the money!!!

Who wants to be playing Aberdeen, Dundee and Edinburgh every other week?

Celtic supporters hit back at Middlesbrough as one-trophy club send brazen McGree tweet

Celtic supporters have hit back at Middlesbrough with some home truths after the English Championship side sent a cheeky tweet about Riley McGree tonight.

The club have officially announced the attacking midfielder as their latest January signing, after confirmed interest from Celtic in the player.

Their social media admin has gotten themselves a little bit too excited, unable to resist a dig at Celtic in the announcement post on Twitter.

Middlesbrough, whose only major honour is a solitary English League Cup, are undoubtedly happy with their purchase tonight but if their biggest highlight of the season is pipping Celtic to a signing then that tells a story.

Ange Postecoglou spoke about the interest in McGree earlier this week, but from his comments, it seems that the Australian international was never really interested in coming into the manager’s intense Celtic project.

It’s crucial that Postecoglou identifies players up for the fight in Glasgow and who want to be here. So, while it would have been nice to add another attacking midfielder to the squad, it wasn’t to be in this case.

It’s fair to say the tweet is causing a bit of stir tonight as Celtic, Middlesbrough and yes, predictably, Rangers fans all get in on the mix with posts and patter of their own.

For Celtic fans, it seems to be mostly be focused on the small-time nature of Boro and perhaps the less than noble reasons they have been picked by a player. Money talks, some would say.

These supporters have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on it all…

Some people prefer European football and success over money and championship football 🤐 https://t.co/sPuE5pGFRu

There used to be an urban myth that Boro were a sort of franchise of Celtic. It was supposedly evidenced by a history of amicable transfers of Celtic players to Boro over the years. I think that's been knocked on the head now.

We are obviously so insignificant that the Glasgow Times has mentioned us as protagonists and accused Boro of taking a "swipe" at a "big" club?!
Free advertising.
Motherwell, East Fife and Ross County are the only teams north of Hadrians Wall;) (y)

I didn't know Celtic fans were so bitter 😂 it's hilarious
I guess it's because their whole life they feel the centre of everything in their little microcosm but deep down they know as soon as they step into the big world, they are insignificant

No doubt we will arrange a pre-season “friendly” against them this year. Last time, for Mogga’s testimonial they brought down half of Glasgow. Wasn’t very friendly then though!

imagine what they said about bormuff when ryan christie dared to leave 'em for us! I think they were genuinely shocked. they seem like a bunch of deluded assholes, altho I'm sure there are nice ones. maybe.

The argument about European football lasts about 6 weeks then they are out. Even less for champions league.

I think in right in saying we've been to a European final since they have?

I am pretty sure even the most staunch Celtic fan can see the Champo is a higher standard league. Thats not even including the fact you could end up in the prem through promotion.

The SPL has crowds under 10k and some played on artificial pitches. I'm sorry but it's simply not a big pull. Clearly Celtic are massive...yet its not the big pull when you are playing football week on week out. The standard is shocking.

He could have picked the second best team in glasgow. He never, he picked the mighty Boro. He wants to play in the prem next year. He knows the score 😉

Rangers fans are giving Celtic the "he chose the Boro over you" ha ha - which is having a go at us too.
I wonder how they will feel if Lundstrum moves in our direction?!!!
