Cashless businesses banned in NYC

Good - I find nothing more irritating than someone handing a card over for a $10 purchase.

I have seen people use cashless for purchases of a £1

Can people pay 1p, by cashless?

Everything we buy and where we go will be monitored very soon.

US so far behind when it comes to electronic movement of money. Times when use of cash is more irritating than card

1. Behind the "woman with the purse delving for change" in a supermarket check out queue
2. Behind the bloke with the deep pockets searching and then plugging in 20 small coins into a car park paypoint
3. Person paying for a packet of biscuits with a twenty pound note and the shopkeeper having to go to the back room for more rolls of change

The problem with the time it takes is due to a lack of trust. It was quicker to be served before plastic came along.
Before tills became home computers and you used to have a draw for the takings? To add to Zoo’s irritating things about cash the bar serving staff member who can’t use the till properly and has to get the supervisor to come and help out while they try and find which button to press. Simple touch your card here mate and be on your way. Much better.

I see Philadelphia has also banned cashless businesses.

Well could it happen over here? A report says 25% of New Yorkers are unbanked. That’s some proportion. I guess an option would be to use preloaded cards more. Cash for businesses is more expensive to handle and therefore naturally want to encourage elimination of cash payment.

I really hope it doesn't happen over here. I'd rather look to the future than stay in an archaic and slower past. I almost never use cash these days, to such an extent that if I have to I never have any on me. Cashless is just far more convenient, from carrying no shrapnel, to the security of not having to have a load of easily muggable, untraceable notes on you, to the sheer speed you can pay. I hope we follow a Swedish model to head towards a cashless society
