Carrick's post-match interview

Never loved a manager more.

The way he speaks, the way he makes it all about the players and plays down anything he has done. His in game management. His winning mentality.

I love everything about him and I’m just enjoying it while he’s here, hopefully for a while yet. A superb appointment.

To be fair I think Liam Rosenior just spoke well about Hull and the match. Quite liked what he said about their performance and ours. Kind of disagreed that he mentioned them switching off for the goals mind. We absolutely overran them second half and didnt let them impose themselves on us as they did in the 1st.

Very respectful of everyone involved. Shaking all the presenters hands at the end of the interview. Respecting all the players and the opposition. However underneath all of that, he obviously has tremendous resolve. Looking like a potentially great manager.

Was listening to Undr the Cosh podcast with the ex Man Utd masseuse today, he said that Carrick is quiet but when he speaks everyone stops and listens, knows how to hold a room

I felt the Tees interviewer was trying to catch him out and disclose whether he'd be starting Jones vs Luton but Carrick didn't fall for it, just as he never relented when he used to try and get him to speak about automatic promotion.

IF we do go up, and IF we have a tough season and possibly get relegated, I do hope we don’t hound Carrick out of the club. IF we go up, next season is a free hit and it doesn’t matter if we come back down. Stay behind M C and he’ll get us straight back up. Don’t lose patience and hound him out so we have to start over again.

I think he’ll keep us up IF we go up so the above is just saying to bear in mind just in case.

Well now I'm not a huge fan of post match comments as I think sometimes they are a bit too soon, but I will give our man Carrick 100% for his approach. He praises the team, gives new players kudos, everyone's effort, players coming in for those injured, mentioned the team talk and the reaction to it, and his obvious delight in the result. What he never does is mention himself, criticize players or talk down performances. I'd love us to keep this guy - he is the real deal.

My granddaughter wants his babies apparently, so as far as I am concerned he can feck off.
adaway Col, you'll be crying with joy as you walk her down the aisle...and even though I've never met you or your daughter, I'd be expecting an invitation to act as the guard of honour for the great man (along with about 30,000 other Boro fans).

Good point well made

He comes across really well, and all the players seem to love him too.

Really good to see, and even to be honest I probably won't be that bothered if we don't go up, as if we had him next year I think we would walk it, regardless of who came down from the Prem. 2/3 of them would **** it up, and we're way above the rest of the teams who would be left in this league.

Might give us a little more rebuilding time too, and maybe even more chance of holding onto Giles, Archer and Ramsey, or getting them for lesser fees, as they're all worth buying.

It would be hard for him to keep us in the prem, but to be honest he's been way above my expectations, so I would still be fairly confident of staying in the prem if we held some of these players and brought in some solid additions.

Another good thing is that players will be watching how we play, and how many chances we create and how many goals we score, plenty will want to be a part of that. It should really help recruitment.
