Injuries?

[Big smile] I think its probably just better off talking about who`s fit, who`s available, in terms of the players from last week and how well they`ve played. We`ve got a long list that are not available for whatever reason. That`s not my focus to be honest [said very assertively] I think its more getting the boys who are fit and ready and available, ready for the game. Its a great challenge for us, for certain players who havent played so much and now in the team: great, making an impact [having] the opportunity. Fantastic! I`m really looking to the game and this spell of games to see what we`re capable of doing.

Hows Paddy`s back after Leeds?

We`ll just have to wait and see. He`s had a back spasm and its taking a while to settle, but whether it settles in time or not, we`ll have to see. [Looks straight at reporter] It is what it is. we`ll deal with it.

You don’t like to give too much away about injuries[!]?

No its just more I think for me of like the boys injuries. We get suspensions and its easy to talk about that, but really you know, its about the game, its about preparing for the game. I`m really looking forward to that. I see it as a great challenge and the boys are in good spirit and good shape and playing well and felt the disappointment last week, but looking forward to what we can do next.

Could the boys who are a bit `closer` be back in time.

[Looks straight at same reporter and smiles] its just about what and who`s fit for us and working together to see exactly the answer I`ve just given you really [Looks again straight at the reporter].

Transcript v Leeds:

Injuries?
We`ve got another day tomorrow [Friday] so we`ll see how Dael [Fry] is, how Hayden [Hackney] is. It could go either way really. Lucas Engel – we`re just waiting really...trying to give the boys as long as they need or can have and whether they can be involved in the weekend. Whether they start or miss it we`re still not sure really.

Lewis O`Brien?
He`s going through his rehab so he`s still a good number of weeks away really, but he`s making good progress. He`s in and around us here and working his way back really…..[smiles at the reporter] there`s a group with him at the moment.

Time frame on recovery?
[Shakes head] I`m not putting a time-frame on that. He`s been out for a number of weeks and he`d be out for a good few more weeks. But I don’t want to put that on, otherwise you`de be asking me `is he fit yet` `is he fit yet` [smiles at reporter] so I`m not going down that road just yet

Are our injuries `just bad luck`?
There`s a wide range [of injuries] you know. We look at [the situation] and what we can do better on a weekly basis and any injury we get we think what could we do better: is there something we could have avoided(?) Sometimes maybe you can, sometimes your thinking `we possibly could have` avoided and [sometimes] you just go `its one of them things`. If its a `twist` or an impact injury…..there`s all sorts come into it, but yeah you`re right, there`s such a variety that its difficult to pin anything down to really. Hopefully, we can get the boys back quick and make the most of it when they are back.

Transcript v Preston:

Engel. “Prognosis”?
We`re still waiting really. He wont be ready for tomorrow. How long, we don’t know at this stage. Hopefully its a matter of days, but we`ll have to wait and see. Its still quite early...we are still assessing it [the injury]. [Smile] We seem to be picking up a few…..sometimes it happens. It was really unfortunate – there was a nasty twist, so hopefully it is`nt too bad and we`ll have him back soon.

Riley Mcgree and Marcu Forss?
[Big smile] Its like I keep telling you for the last few weeks really…...Marcus is longer away. Hopefully Riley`s weeks really. By the time he`s back training he`s missed a lot so we`re patient. Its a frustrating one with Riley……..a niggly one its hard to put a time frame on. At the moment he`s doing positive, but I don’t want to put a time ahead of that, because it can be seen as a set-back when its not…...that`s not me trying to gloss over or hide anything from you [smile] It is what it is. We`re patient. we`ve got to get the boys back…...but actually its a long season and we need them back right. That`s why we`ve got the boys, that`s why we`ve got the squad who`ve managed [with injured players] fantastically well.

How does Carrick deal with all the injuries with a busy period coming up?
There`s two sides to it you know. There`s the disappointment of losing players...because we want them here to play a part. The flip side of that is why we`ve got a squad, and opportunities for others to play games and play well. [Smile] That`s not forgetting about the injured players at all, but the beauty of it is its another game…... we`ve got another team to pick and one someone else will play in. That`s it. For that side of things we move on pretty quickly and work as hard as we can to get the boys who unfortunately are`nt able to get them back as soon as we can.

Transcript v Bristol City

Fresh injury concerns?.

Not really. No. The boys came through the [Leicester] game OK and ,touch-wood, the ones that have came through Internationals should be alright so yeah...fingers crossed [Smile].

Riley McGree and Marcus Forss?

[Smile] They are nearer [recovery] but not near. They`re not that close to be honest. Still a few weeks away. Not a season...no, you`re talking weeks really. With Riley its his foot...and [as an injury] its not an easy one to get on top of. We`re working through that and he`s making progress, which is important. Marcus is a good few weeks, so we`ll work through that and get him back as quick as we can.

Transcript v Leicester City

Injuries. Progress?

Pretty much the same. As time goes, as the weeks pass, hopefully the lads will get closer [to recovery]. At this stage we are where we are. [Those injured] are not massively close no. Length of time: it depends...Riley [McGree] has a problem with his foot. That`ll be a period of time...a number of weeks.

Transcript v Plymouth

Injury concerns after Exeter game?
Thankfully, as I speak, not anything new. A few boys have played minutes that….they needed really, so for them to come through the game. Yeah, [there`s] a little bit of fatigue and they [will] recover well, but in terms of injuries we`re in as good shape as we were going into the game.

Other injury news?
Nothing. No.

Transcript v Stoke

Injuries? Marcus? Latte Lath?
Latte Lath`s good. Had a couple of days to rest and recover. Marcus – he`s going to be out for a number of weeks unfortunately.

Riley an Darragh?
No.

Darragh`s still doing a bit of [clinical] investigation and assessment. He`s got a problem with his achillies and ankle. Riley`s got one of those injuries on his foot which is a little bit day-by-day, step-by-step and take it as it comes. Time frame is not easy to give on that one.

League Cup Match Tuesday. Will injuries affect team choice?
Sometimes when you`ve got a lot more players to choose from, we need to keep everyone involved. At other times, like for now – its a little bit of making sure we freshen it up and keep as many fit as we can now. We`ve lost some players, so there`s a bit of a baance on that. Good form - you want to keep that going, when you`re on the rythym of playing games, [smile] its good to keep playing games, so there`s a balance. Does it make it any easier that there`s less players to chose from. …...probably not. Its just a little bit different. [Exeter] We`re looking to go there and try to win the game. That`s pretty obvious.

Carrick considered dipping into the market to cover for injuries?
[Shakes head vigorously] Not at this stage no [Looks sternly at reporter].

Transcript v Norwich

Injuries?
[Smile] We`re kind of counting up the bodies if Im honest at the moment...giving players as long as they can to recover and find out who`s fit and who`s not going tomorrow. That`s the nature of it. That`s why we wanted the squad that we assembled....the strength in numbers. We know over a period of time everyone`s going to play a huge part. It comes around and I`ve said it before, if you feel you have`nt played or been out the team a little bit, it [opportunity] certainly comes round quick. The boys keep themselves ready, train well. That`s part of it, so [we`ve] got no problems. Disappointed with injuries….but its an opportunity for somebody else and we`ll make the most of it.

McGree? Lenihan? Any closer for the weekend?

No.

If anyone wants further details I can repost the full transcripts of Carrick`s Media Conferences - verbatim.
Its a shame we have to waste time speculating, based on an "article" taken out of context.

People will always speculate on what the team is - and use press reports
That's what fans do on a football message board for their team
Not on information that`s over two weeks old and not even from the same media-conferences.
If you make one up - I will.

;)

"Michael Carrick said recently that he`s really worried Boro will finish up mid-table, unless a solution can be found to the current injury crisis.
With at least half the regular first team out, some with long-term injuries, the club is desperate to bolster the squad and Kieran Scott is said to be scouting the Premiership for free agents and youngsters likely to be available in the New Year. A source said Manchester United were ready to loan out several of their fringe players and possibly reach a deal on at least two regular first teamers come January. Meanwhile, it has been reported that Steve Gibson has told Michael Carrick that a "war chest" is available to target an established right back and a Premier League striker - who is currently at a struggling Premier side and would we willing to take a paycut. The Topper and The Beano also report that Roy of The Rovers was really a Border Collie and Minced Meat was actually Kieth Lamb in sling-backs "

I haven't made any up personally
Like others I am interested in what our team will be , and discuss it
Not really sure why you aren't happy with that

What are you getting at Roofie?
So what if people discuss things Carrick said two weeks ago?
They might still be valid to this week's team selection.

Im happy TC. (y)
Just always aware that a rumour or a distortion becomes a fact before you know it and people react to that rather than the facts.
Just posted Carrick`s latest interview transcript if anyone wants to read what he actually said. Its a short one for this game.
