Carrick on “how good is Dan Barlaser”?

Head Coach Michael Carrick in response to a question from a reporter:

Dan Barlaser: how good has he been in this recent period?

Dan's been really, really, fantastic. Along with Johnny [Howson] actually, they've had to take a lot of the load and play a lot of minutes over quite some time now, and they've managed it really well. Obviously, they train together every day and have done for a period of time. You can see that connection and I think that's the good thing about us, especially the mid-field, is we got they can all play together:

It's fantastic for me to have that chance to, not necessarily, pick the best one or the best pair. It's more about having the freshness and flexibility. They are all different in their own way. Dan's done really, really, well, and you can see him growing in confidence and quality on the ball, is there for everyone to see.

We brought Danny because we know what he had and what we feel he was capable of doing, and I think he's totally showing that. He's very, very, good on the ball, he sees a pass, he's got composure, he finds space so well, [and] passes forward a lot. That's his strength. A lot of our work is getting the players in positions and asking….encouraging, rather…to do things that bring out the best in them, really. Dan's certainly done that now.

Carrick clearly knows nothing about midfield play, barlasar has been deemed not good enough on here many times.
Morning young man.
Hope you are doing well and continuing the missionary work down there in the “Home” counties. (y)

I was surprised when Barlasar was Carrick's first signing... They're exactly the same type of player, and we hadn't been linked with Barlasar previously. At 25/26 he doesn't really fit the plan either as he's not young, not really experienced, and he doesn't really have much resale value. He must be a Carrick signing.
