Carrick is staying

I heard Giles wasn’t 100% fit while here. Was carry an injury for almost all the time he was here. Edmundson also had injuries but I agree was a bit of a daft signing

Wouldn't surprise me. He was poor in his first couple of games and Carrick didn't really fancy him for whatever reason after that.

Steve Cooper has a great record. He can deliver here. It does come into consideration of course it does.
Having a great record has rarely worked for us

Probably get proved wrong but we have more success with rookies than we do with managers with history, certainly since 86 anyway

Anyway, whatever happens UTB

He`s only a manager and they are never here very long anyway, so not entirely sure why I`m that arsed tbh

In fairness for the Warnock-Carrick debate, I always thought Warnock was utter garbage but plenty of mates - and people on here - are big fans of what he did here.

For me he got nothing out of Djed Spence, Flo Balogun, Izzy Jones. Tav was good under him. Buried Payero, who just finished mid table in centre midfield in Serie A. Played big Uche over Chuba Akpom, who won Championship player of the year 2 years later. That in itself is £100m of players. Morsy’s in the Premier League now (just). It was total underachievement with a non-league mentality. Charismatic bloke though, can see why people like him.

Tony Pulis did way better, but people don’t like to hear that.
Warnock did indeed get nothing out of Balogun, he was not signed until Jan 22 when Warnock left in Nov 21.
Warnock did not bury Payero, the lad wasn't ready yet. Payero started 5 of the last 6 matches for us that Warnock managed.
Isaiah Jones emerged under Warnock, playing 42 league matches that last season of Warnock's reign.

We got £12.5m plus add ons for Spence being loaned out and developed by Cooper at Forest. He was going off the rails badly at Boro (sadly)

Other than that though you are spot on...I guess...

I honestly thought he would do the honourable thing and resign.
My thoughts were good on him for trying but he now knows management isn't what he is made for.
Well I got that wrong didn’t I
So I am not that optimistic for next season and this season isn’t even over yet
But one of Englands best footballers let’s not forget so he must know a bit more than me.
So all I can say is I hope he proves me wrong again.
I will be cheering him and the lads on next season.

Last two promotions were rookies Carrick and Robson

Oh yikes I was way off with Balogun, memory playing tricks.

This is a good example of how people will defend Warnock to the hilt though (and am aware that you’re mates with him, fair play!)

I still think that with Warnock we were treading water and basically playing like a League One team, when we had some talent around who Warnock didn’t rate or couldn’t get much out of for whatever reason. I mean Big Uche, that was ridiculous.

Of course there was an obvious conflict at the time between recruitment and the manager, the profiles of players we brought in were wildly different depending on who picked them.

And you definitely can’t credit Warnock for Djed Spence’s career, that’s absurd.

Not trying to start an argument btw, really enjoy reading your posts!

Maybe the decision to stick with Carrick is influenced by the fact Cooper wasn't an option for us?
That may be true Jonny. He will be being paid his Leicester PL contract for as long as it had left. He may not be willing to come here.
If he is we should try and get him.

so we either become world beaters and storm the league.

or we get to October time and have to sack him then. following the trend of many of his predecessors
Or we're somewhere in the middle in October, floating around 5th-6th, hardly storming the league, but not quite what I'd call sackable grounds.

Just think sunderland going up and we are keeping a clueless uninspiring fella in charge because he makes a few quid for the chairman. absolute joke !

Sunderland getting promoted with a bloke no-one had heard of and everyone was laughing at when he was appointed makes this statement even more risible.
So we get rid of MC and get in someone no-one has heard of, that`s the gamble you want to make, which to me seems just as ludicrous as my post does to you and those who have liked it

and how on earth could I suggest a better alternative if I haven`t heard of them? Would anyone have offered up the Sunderland managers name at the start of the season?

My no better alternative is aimed mainly at the likes of Cooper, Dyche, Edwards

I have though offered alternatives in Roger Schmidt and Edin Terzic

Cooper is a better alternative though. Vastly superior. To be so dismissive of him makes no sense.
