Carlos Corberan

That wouldn’t make any sense… jeopardising a manager to suit current backroom/academy staff. But if true, nothing surprises me with the club decisions these days.
We did the same before appointing Southgate. Insisted on the manager keeping Steve Round - which ruled out 'Middlesbrough on the Rhine'.
Round then left in December anyway.

Yeah, I seem to remember Round having big potential as a coach and has gone on to be involved with England, Man Utd, currently Arsenal so I can kind of understand that. I’m not sure Leo or Tinkler are being tipped as having the same potential

True, but I think with Leo there is more to it than just his potential. Tinkler may be more to do with continuity and links to the academy.

For me Carlos Cobreran provides the best mix of what we are looking for; a young up and coming manager who has experience of the championship.
He would be my number one choice in these uncertain times.
I’m sure some arrangement can be made to keep Leo involved, they both speak Spanish which is a start 😊

He's still probably my first choice but will need a lot of time and support if appointed.

This squad is about as far away from a corberan squad as it's possible to get.

I saw a tweet last night suggesting Carrick wants to bring Mike Phelan and Rene Meulensteen with him.

Can't see it mind given that Phelan is coach at Man Utd and Meulensteen is assistant manager of the Austrian national team. Would be quite a comedown for them.

Phelan is on the books at Man United, but he's not involved in the first team anymore.

Corberan is comfortable working with the Football Director set up.
Hudds plan
Given the sensible words emanating from their FD I wouldn't be averse to taking him on either!
Huddersfield finished 3rd in the League last season remember.
Appreciate they are struggling this year but losing your best players and Manager must make things difficult to be fair.
(they lost their Head of Recruitment to Swansea in the summer too)

The thing is Huddersfield will have set their aims on 'rough diamonds' and the cheap end of the market.
We still seem to be looking to the 'top end' ie, £15m strikers. Perhaps we need an honest re-assessment of where we are and what growth strategy we employ. The current plan isn't working.

We are really in the up to £3m market, opposed to the £15m market - like most of the Championship.

Ref Crooks if he has a hernia problem he has an operation or doesn't play - He can't play Championship football with that sort of medical problem - its too demanding and his hernia will probably becomes much worse. If his stomach is pushing upwards it will affect his breathing and digestion. If he can't have an operation for other reasons he may have to retire from this level of football. I know this sounds sad but I am just thinking it through logically.

I actually don't think there's such a huge gulf between us and Huddesfuild when it comes to operating budgets.

And there's no way we are a club in the market for circa £15m players, absolutely no way.

Gyorores (sic) was quoted at anything between £10 to £20m according to reports.
What was Riss £7m?
Do you think fellow Championship Clubs would quote any lower for their best players when we've just received £12m for Spence and a similar fee for Tavernier.

Our Managers aren't cheap either - Pulis was on a fortune.
Wilder won't have come here without a very attractive salary package.

If Crooks’ hernia was a medical emergency or something similar then I’m sure Crooks would have been in and out of surgery by now. As for career ending or retiring from a certain level, I very much doubt that situation is relevant as based on current medical innovations most hernia’s are treated as an out patient with a quick recovery time.

However there’s always a chance where the hernia can become strangulated and therefore it can result in life-changing requirements, but again I doubt that situation is going on with Crooks.

I am going on what other posters have said. They say he has a hernia problem, it doesn't stop him playing but restricts him. That Crooks wants to avoid an operation because of complications from his other medical condition epilepsy which he was diagnosed with when he was 18.

If Carrick has pulled out it now leaves the path clear for Carlos. Come on Gibbo get him signed.
