If you have a little bit of time today. Just a paragraph or two is perfect.

The release of joy and emotion on that final whistle, haven witnessed all the major cup finals at Wembley and left empty handed, to experience that trophy lift was immense. It was also an absolute privilege, too many men and women had left us to the Holgate in the sky and never saw us win a major trophy. I feel incredibly lucky and humble that I was there.

My dad took me & my younger brother to Ayresome Park in late 1971 over the next 30 odd years we still religiously went to the Boro games, though my brother went with his mates, me mostly with my dad, all cup finals we all went together to, hopefully, see us win a major trophy together
I travelled by the soccer special which left Darlington Station, with a very good friend of mine, my brother in law, nephew & my dad
The view of the millennium looked awesome, we walked around it then made our way inside, its sounds strange but my 1st thought that it looked like a European stadium
The game kicked off, the atmosphere was awesome, we went in to an early 2 goal lead, fastest cup final goal at the time, then cruising it turned in to typical Boro but finally & something we all dreamed of but probably thought we would never see, we won a trophy
When we won the Carling Cup my dad was sat next to me & brother infront, sadly neither are with us today, but to be together when we triumphed at the Millennium Stadium will live with me forever x

Really great memories. If anyone wants to submit something for the fanzine - I try not to repeat what has already been published online - if possible

Although I don't really have to put my email up anymore, I suppose.
Am also looking for anything to do with Tony Mowbray returning.

Yes. It is special.
Does anyone else want to add a paragraph or so.. about Carling Cup Final or Tony Mowbray just email me it and I will bag it for the fanzine.

Here's a double Tony Mowbray & Carling Cup story....

My Carling Cup day was made even better as whilst I was waiting outside the stadium in disbelief at seeing us win our first major cup, who did I see heading towards me but Tony Mowbray, which instantly took me back to being a 9 year old kid waiting outside Ayresome Park for players autographs.

I prodded my Dad and said something along the lines of "Look it's Tony Mowbray".

Mogga obviously heard and said something like "Now then kidda" (I was 34 at the time!).

Winning a cup and been greeted by my favorite ever player within an hour - days don't get better than that !

Rob I've edited mine to put a few more lines in, also included a couple of photos which I took on the day
Also posted it to you
Cheers

I will change my usernames soon - just did it quickly to remind me which one was admin and which was me posting. The site looks different posting through admin eyes - so I am trying to use my own username more now.

I cleared a platform at Newport. Had my first jalfrezi the night before and it played havoc 🤣

I was sat next to a guy called Stephen Gibson (not the one) and took that as an omen

Probably the same Stephen Gibson who in about 1995, one summer when we were bored, we got to ring Newcastle and speak to Kevin Keegan as he correctly told the club secretary "it's Steve Gibson from Middlesbrough here".

Keegan actually rang him back but at that point he panicked and said something about "swapping Rob Lee for Jamie Pollock" before hanging up.
