Old tradition from the north east. Saw some for sale on Friday in the Boro, soaked them over night and cooked them today, salt, white pepper and malt vinegar added and they were lovely with a couple of beers.

Carlins used to be our main peashooter ammunition. Used to buy loads but have never eaten them except swallowing them by accident.

Had them once just like black/grey mushy peas my old boss made us put em on carvery didn’t go down to well think colour put the clientele off

I blended some down with extra virgin olive oil, harissa paste and Himalayan salt to make a good old northern hummus...
