Cant get excited for the world cup

Would love it. 3 humiliating thumpings. Probably won't happen sadly, but it's the only results I'm interested in.

How many weeks till Boro play again? Most depressing time of year, weather is ****, dark all the time and football is cancelled (as far as I'm concerned).

**** off FIFA and **** off Qatar.
Imagine all the fans in the fan parks cheering every goal against Qatar. They wouldn't like that

Infantino's speech ..........when you are in a hole mate, stop digging !!, more corrupt than even Blatter/Platini etc
To be fair, he's going to have to raise his game to compete with those two. Wonder how much he was paid for that speech - bet it dwarfs what Bozo has been getting.

FIFA - corrupt as f*ck, to the core.

His speech has really made me angry, an arrogant lack of humility and awareness.

Right now I'm not sure I'll be watching any of it and I never thought I'd say that.

Sink a beer every time Qatar concede?!

Never been a World Cup where so many squad players were not born in the country of their side.

Interesting stat.

I’ve mentioned this before on here but Wales is no coincidence as they basically appointed a scouting team to scout premier league squads and poach English youngsters at an early age then fast track them into the Welsh senior squad ( sometimes without any mens senior football) to stop England getting them.

The policy of taking England B players is not new as Ireland showed but the idea of taking too England youngsters was.

As you can see it worked

Last time I was excited about a world cup was 1970, when I was 13 and we were the holders. We didn't qualify the next two and I was a bit old to get excited after that but I've watched and enjoyed them all since, and this will be the same, in fact I'll be able to watch more games than normal now that I'm retired.

It shouldn't have gone to Qatar but it shouldn't have been in USA or a second time to Mexico only 16 years after first being there.
Or Argentina in 78, or Russia in 2018.

I love the World Cup but I'm going to boycott this one. I know it won't make any difference to anybody. I know there's corruption, greed and cruelty everywhere, but you have to draw the line somewhere and this is where I have chosen to draw it.

Not seen that one which platform is it?

He SHOULD have been the best, but without tempting spoilers I suspect his mental state impacted on his career, sadly.
TBF he is surely one of the best ever though.

Just watched it on BBC iplayer last night. Fantastic film. As is the Sky one about Brazil 2002.

At the end of the Phenomenon I don’t mind admitting that I welled up a bit. He is a very likeable superstar too, not of the CR7/Neymar ilk.

I am really struggling not to watch it. Not seen any games so far but I may struggle a lot more in the knockout stages.

I was totally against it - so many reasons not to support it. I opted not to go but started watching at home from half time in the first match and despite everything that FIFA and Qatar have done the football has been compelling.

Haven't watched one minute.....and surprisingly been extremely easy. Not tempted to watch a game, not feeling as though I'm missing out by not watching. But then again I'm not particularly ars*d about international football.

Roll on 10th December 👍

I'm not struggling at all. Haven't seen a game yet and don't intend to. The only difficulty is avoiding games that are on in pubs or, in one case, a hospital waiting room.
Good for you Capy. I am begining to wonder when I can start watching and not be a complete hipocrit
