Can you ask to stop benefits in writing?

A relative needs to stop Attendance Allowance, but it only seems to allow it to be stopped by ringing
As that provides no proof that it has been reported - and waiting for them to write to confirm when they say it has to be reported immediately doesn't inspire confidence - I was wondering if emails can be sent in too?
Have read too many horror stories about DWP to trust verbal assurances, and also while I want to help I don't want my name on their system either

Phone them up, put the call on loudspeaker. Record the conversation using another phone. Pictures and videos are time and date stamped.

Out of curiosity, what do you mean you “don’t want your name on their system”?

your relative will have all the details about comms in their letters , original claim agreement letter and yearly notification docs.
My dad got AA . They won't be interested in the idea 'oh we don't need it no more' . They will be very interested in hearing from your relative about why the circumstances have changed and why they don't think they need it any more
