Can we now be realistic

OK, so I keep reading bedwetting comments mixed in with "this is so exciting" comments, both of which seem too much. There is not a cat in halls chance this side goes up (too much work needed on the squad) we have something that can be built on next year. This side is not awful either, we will improve and just about finish in the top half. We are weaker than year, but richer than last year, and will build on this next year. Oh BTW, steffen is not the answer, sorry, he just isn't.

Possibly no point in them whatsoever, but we could add strand Larrson, muniz, hannibal, greaves, and even more and we'd still be miles away from challenging this year. So yes I agree, there is literally 0 point in having Giles, and steffen isn't up to standard anyway. As I say, we're not going down, and as for going up, no chance, I really like this league anyway so if it happens great, if not oh well
What's the point in Giles and Stefan if it's next year sick of hearing it transitional

The squad is good enough, if we get 1 or 2 more additions. But not to play this style of football. We need to be playing a more structured, solid style of football and hitting on the break. But we're playing suicidal attacking football. Like we did under Monk and under Woodgate. It's not the quality, it's the manager not being pragmatic enough and trying to play a style of football we don't have the players for. And, realisticaly, that we'll never be able to afford to get the players for.

At least we can confidently predict a decent run through the autumn, not losing a single point for the month following 12th November.

I agree with the transition thing being annoying. But we certainly aren't good enough to go up. It doesn't really matter if we do add players to this squad. So in a way, yes Giles and Stephen where pointless acquisitions, however without Giles I'm sure we'd be staring down the barrel. I'm happy anyway as I enjoy the football whatever division were in, but let's be straight here, this is 6 or 7 players away from being near the playoffs

I’m not in favour of so many loaners being part of our first team. Ok it might get you out of a jam short term but I just don’t think it’s a good philosophy, so in terms of being realistic the executives don’t see a long term plan, so they hire some other teams “binned” items. It’s kind of like going to the tool store and just renting a hedge cutter for a small short term project.

I looked at Hoppe today — my immediate thought was “what you let Ikpeazu go for this stiff?” Not only that you shipped a fella out who signed full time and you brought in a rented item?!

I just get the feeling that the club is acting too big for its boots right now. I look at Dael Fry, local lad who has been chopped down by CW — and for what reason? Last season we had one of the best defences in the league due in part to Fry’s central leadership.

CW then brings in Lenihan who has decent ability but I don’t think he should have binned Fry.— the emphasis should have been on a left back, but we’re still waiting.

As we know last season Tav covered every blade of grass for Bola but now he’s gone we can see the hole he’s left. Mowatt needs time to come up to speed on that role but again he’s a loaner, so he’s less caring, attentive and perhaps looking at WBAs results.

I’m sorry - the squad isn’t good enough. Negate the wing backs, dish out some muscle, add pace and you have the ingredients to beat us. That’s the reality

We haven't suddenly gone that far backwards in 6 months. If we get a left footed centre back who can bring the ball forward and support Giles. Get Crooks back into the midfield to add a bit of height and power, put McNair at right centre back and get a goalscorer in then we're more than capable of competing.

The issue this season is the way we've lined up and the fact we're leaving ourselves exposed defensively over and over again. That lies with the manager trying to play a style of football without the players capable of playing it. However, if this is the style of football we want to embed at this club, then persevering with it until we get the players we need may be worth doing.

It’s a results based business - we are not delivering through not being good enough or employing tactics not capable of getting results. Anything else is an irrelevance

We said push for promotion next year last year too

It’s always next year is our year

We just missed out on the playoffs last time playing half a season with two forwards who couldn’t hit a cows arsè with a banjo - Even just adding Muniz and another quality forward will make a tremendous difference to the side, and that’s without the probable addition of another midfielder and centre back too. The side is obviously lacking in certain areas at the moment but i wouldn’t at all be surprised if we went on a very good run of results once these players are added
