Well depends what he says if he gets strongly linked with those vacancies doesn't it? If he gives a vague non committal answer each time then the circus will start again, but it'll be one he's partly fuelled.

I'm sure plenty of envious glances were cast in the direction of Karanka during his first 2 years, but don't recall any strong rumour at any point that he was about to leave.

No i don't think there were strong rumours but there was perhaps a link to Valencia(?) that lingered quietly in the background. I may be wrong
