Can we catch Sheff Utd?

Think Corberan is a very good manager, at Huddersfield he often changed line ups and tactics depending on the opposition. He sussed Boro out at the Riverside after we dicked them at their place earlier in the season. So it will definitely be a tough game but the way things are going we must have a great chance of three points.
Actually would of liked him to replace Wilder thankfully gibbo knew better 😊
I agree with you about corboran but it gave me hope last week in their defeat that he moved Wallace (their best player) out of position to accommodate Albrightson - his new signing ! And they got roundly turned over by brum no less! WBA looked a shadow of the team from when corboran took over- his new manager bounce is over.

To be fair a lot of managers sussed Wilder out, it wasn't just Corberan. The Huddersfield game also coincided with the Burnley flirtation.

While we all know runs like that come to an end at some point, the gamblers fallacy that we must be due a defeat doesn't apply.
That fallacy actually applies in football because results aren't random. A long winning run brings its own form of pressure.

I did say that I thought it was possible that we might emulate Norwich and Villa in 18-19 when they both managed over 30 points in the last 13 games. In both cases they had players who were on fire (Grealish / Pukki & Buendia) and we are going to need Akpom, Archer and McGree to stay fit and playing in this form to emulate them.

That said, even 30 points won't be enough if Sheffield overcome their blip and return to their average results.

Barlaser was interesting in the post-match presser where he said (as he would) that he would rather be chasing than being chased. If you have something to aim for then you can go for it while if you are being hunted down it is hard not to keep looking over your shoulder.

I was just thinking to myself 'Corberan would have done a great job with this squad, so don't be too dismissive' and then just remembered how well Carrick has done. It is just genuinely astounding how he hasn't simply turned us around, but transformed us.

I agree with barlasser as look at us now we are all upbeat and buoyant going into games as we have incredible momentum and confidence we EXPECT to win now.

Compare that with sheff u yesterday they now face Watford who are scrapping for the top 6 imagine if they concede early that crowd will get nervy and poss even turn.

In their last game vs brum corberan picked a strange team with new signing allbrightson playing on the right wing and he moved their best player for me; jed Wallace to a number 10 role and they were awful. Got beat 2-0!
His new manager bubble burst a couple of weeks ago and a shocker of a result in their derby….tomorrow versus Watford will be interesting!
🥤
Whilst of course I believe we're quite capable of beating the Baggies, you can't really place much emphasis on derby away games as a pointer, as we know form and everything else goes out the window.
The Blades got a poor result against Rotherham for them plus had that slog against Wrexham before turning the Swans over. We got an out of character pummelling from the deckchairs in the middle of a frankly astounding run. The away derby hoodoo has to be accounted for.

Aside from our respective other form though, we do also get another 2 days to rest and prepare for the match compared to them which could also be a big help.

10 wins out of 13 will arguably be enough for second. 87 points

11 wins will almost certainly do it. 90 points

That’s the target for me.

We also lost a Derby game against a smaller club.

Doesn’t this thread just make for wonderful reading?

Its insane we’re even discussing whether autos are possible after where we were when Wilder left us.
And it’s such a great narrative isn’t it.
Tough fixtures for them, ex managers for both teams with accompanying dodgy predictions; local rivals who could do us a favour but we’re competing with.
Couldn’t call it either way. I don’t think anybody could right now but that momentum is building and something special is happening. We couldn’t do we?
Terrific stuff

Looking at the fixtures if they slip up again v Watford and we gain at least a point on then next week then the weekend after they are early fixture and will be under huge pressure as a defeat and we could go ahead of them in 3pm kick off.

They way they are going you wouldn't bet on them handling that pressure well. Not to mention they will have a huge game v Spurs during week as well. This is very possible as long as we don't fall off too much ourselves.

100% agree. Berge walking around second half, Blackburn ended up doing what we did to them. Any pace on the counter they fall apart - also should’ve had at least one sent off.
