Burns & Cochrane - Reviving The Boro

In response to a bit of Erimus74 nostalgia, here is an article that was in Football Handbook in about 1979. Do you think our summer dealings will bring us anybody like this?

Mind you Cochrane was our record signing at the time and I can't see us beating £15 Million for a while.

As I mentioned more than once on here, both made their home debuts on my 18th birthday, though Micky Burns, another excellent signing, made his away debut the previous week at Old Trafford when he scored in a 3-2 defeat

Looking at the stats for Burns, we signed him from Cardiff in his 30s where he had only played 6 times. without scoring and the year before that he was relegated with Newcastle. It would appear John Neal spotted something that nobody else could.

If we sign someone with similar stats this year - what will the reaction be?

My 1st real memories of watching boro. Cochrane v norwich then wolves in the 1st couple of home games. Bright colourful shorts, smell n getting a drink off the lads selling drinks n stuff in there orange buckets round the perimeter. Went the season before but really we just played tigs running round the boys end. Age 7
