Yeah2-0 now apparently?
I think it’s more than the signings, I think some of their players are very average but the manager has got them playing a possession system which the rest of the championship struggle to play against. They are also ruthless in defence and foul as soon as any kind of opposition threat develops - they seem to be getting away with this without being carded because they are generally dominant.Burnley will win the League easily. Sheff U the only realistic team that will push them close. They both should claim the auto spots. Burnley have shown very well how to rebuild a side following relegation using their parachute payments and good loanees wisely. Something we should have done in 2017-18 instead of handing the job to an incompetent charlatan.
Their two key attacking players Zaroury and Benson were bought from the Belgian League for a combined total of 8 million Euros - just half the price of Assombalonga
Of course its more than just the signings , my point being that they had to reconstruct their team after losing Mee, Tarkowski, Weghorst, Pope, Wood, Pieters, Cornet, McNeil and Collins who were all first teamers. They have done it brilliantly and I would argue some of their additions are more than just "average". You have to be to be so comfortable playing the possession game they are asked to perform. Their two wingers I rate very highly. and Cullen is one of the top midfielders in the Championship. Maatsen is an above average left wing back.I think it’s more than the signings, I think some of their players are very average but the manager has got them playing a possession system which the rest of the championship struggle to play against. Be interesting to see if they survive in the Prem for more than a season.
Really good point on their fouling in midfield as soon as we had possession. Didn’t have a great view from my seat, but looked like every time we had the chance of a break, we were prevented from going forward. Didn’t help that the ref was Gavin Ward mark2.I think it’s more than the signings, I think some of their players are very average but the manager has got them playing a possession system which the rest of the championship struggle to play against. If they were they were being a little disingenuous. We won't face a more difficult game for the rest of this season. Only Bramhall Lane will be close to being as difficult. Some were claiming Burnley were not all that after they beat us to try and diminish our own team
