Burnley unlikely to recall record signing Ben Gibson despite defensive injury crisis

A story that I was told (and probably bollox - but sounds credible) was that Dyche called Gibson in unhappy about his agent touting him around for a move to Watford saying that Watford had been tapping him up. Gibson then replied that he still had all the text messages that Dyche sent HIM whilst he was still a Boro player. Hence toys coming out of pram from our favourite Dundas Street Security Guard...

Dunno but might be some truth in it?

Someone posted a couple of weeks ago that Ben was trying to sort a transfer / loan to another club as he wasn't playing.

Dyche got wind of it and brought him in for a dressing down about speaking to other clubs whilst under contract being unprofessional/unacceptable, whereby Ben got his phone out and showed Dyche his texts to Ben doing the same when he was at boro.

Dyche went ballistic, Ben got shunted off.....

I have no further info, all hearsay obviously and it may well all be boIIocks. Can't remember who posted it, sounded plausible at the time.

I posted this earlier Muttley, was it you I heard from a week or two ago?

Wasn’t West Brom interested in Gibbo before he decided to stay and give us a season ? Players don’t lose ability in mid twenties . Wonder if they get promoted they’d be after him .

football is a small world.. wherever Ben ends up next he has to insist on a - no Dyche - clause in his contract: SD becomes manager = Gibson available for free transfer @ next window..

Is he still training with us or has that been knocked on the head now Woodgate's gone?

And what did "training with us" actually mean anyway? If it was just using the facilities, joining the lads on a run then fine. But if it was joining in full training sessions then isn't that a bit weird unless we genuinely think/thought there was a chance of signing him? (which surely there isn't).

The whole thing is bizarre.

On their website they say he’s not training with us

If Burnley and Dyche are not talking to Ben, how else can he get a move away if not talking to agents?

He's been put in a corner and Dyche is being stupid by not letting him leave. Burnley are not a rich club and paying wages to a player that doesn't play until he leaves on a free is money wasted to placate the ego of Dyche.
We don't know the ins and outs of it - you're just letting your dislike of Dyche mean that he's engineered the situation.

Problem for Ben is, he has hardly kicked a ball in a professional match what two years? - not saying he wouldn't get up to speed quickly, just saying

Can't see many clubs paying £10m - £15m for that

i think Dyche has a **** poor budget relative to the rest of the league and demands a certain culture and work ethic at Burnley to keep them competitave in the league, you can;t argue with his results, wouldn't suprise me if we had a higher wage budget than Burnley or not far off

The telegraph reports "some sources" say he took a paycut to join Burnley. We won't have a higher budget now though.

Surely an in the know can tell us all the truth here? Imagine if we bought a bloke for a club record fee and he barely kicked a ball for us and we eventually let him go back to his lower League former club to train. This Board would be in meltdown. Somebody must know the story? We know Dyce bought Gibson because he thought Mee or Tarkowski were definitely going but then the expected bids/ moves didn’t happen. After that who knows. The situation is a complete mess and for Gibson’s future it has to be sorted over the Summer
Imagine if we paid out 6M for a bloke who scored 6 goals in 4 years and had more splinters in his arze than appearances(y);)
