BT Sport - TNT

Up to £30 a month - christ

I am the same, literally only use it for the CL, but am I bollox paying an extra £20 a month for the privilege

Half the time we are playing away on sky so I cant watch the good CL games anyway 😂

They could probably get a million people to pay £10, but maybe a third of that who will pay £30.

So they make the same money anyway!

But with less people viewing the ads.

Some massive assumptions there of course :sneaky:

Well they just don't seem to be embracing the idea of short term, non-committal OTT viewing like Netlfix and Amazon Prime have, who have followed the likes of Spotify in embracing music streaming to combat piracy. Every time there's a new 'venture' in this space I think "I wonder if this will be it" but no, new channel, price rise, no change, medium-term failure, rinse and repeat. No standalone PPV options either, which seems hugely short-sighted in combating piracy.

I'm sure if TNT was £10 a month they'd have well over a million subscribers on average across the year. They don't seem to have realised that their offering from August to February is basically cr@p anyway until the Champions League warms up.

There is part of me that wonders if they don't mind piracy as they can sell their advertising space with that in mind, in the knowledge it has a much broader reach. 5m folk are pirating sports coverage in this country now and they're all also being equally exposed to the commercial breaks... I bet any potential takers are being told this in negotiations. There has to be a reason why they keep doing what they're doing.
