Britt

I can’t be bothered to tot up his penalties and free kicks, but take them off and his open play goals rate is Shocking.

he hasn’t scored that many penalties and free kicks.I would say most of his goals have been from open play. I’m not a massive fan of his though but we do need to utilise him whilst he is here. Wouldn’t be bringing him in the team tomorrow though if he’s fit. Same team.

We all know that Assombalonga was capable of getting a goal from one of the chances that Akpom missed the other night, but we also know that Britt is just as likely to have missed those chances - remember him and some one-on-ones with the keeper that have gone astray. Keep the side that started against Bristol with Britt on the bench.

What we really need to press for a playoff play is to get a hungry striker - hungry for a chance that is. Neil W is looking and I have faith in him.
With the chance Saville scored with you would have put your money on the keeper if the ball had been at Britt’s feet.

They are, and the vast majority are within 8 yards of goal, he needs the ball put on a plate for him. You need an exceptionally talented midfield for him to prosper and I mean exceptionally. He would have scored a lot playing for that Wolves team a couple of years ago, but then hit a glass ceiling in the prem

He hasn’t scored many full stop.
But as I said, take away the pens and free kicks the number of goals is poor.

He regularly goes longer spells without scoring than a spotty teenager at The Madison Nightclub.

I’ve had enough of all this.
I have given my opinion.

Of course we need to use him in this squad - ditto Fletcher when fit.
Our squad is light in numbers and in particular positions, so we need all of them fit and putting 100% in.

The matchday 18 will be weaker if those two are not in it, so we need them both back.
Neither would get in my starting 11, even if fit, for saturday.
I wish we had 2 different players, but we don't, so we need them both fit and firing.

I have been playing and watching football for almost 60 years, I am an unbroken season ticket holder since 1972
Basically I have seen it and read it all before.
I don’t need club biased bits of kids radio commentators to tell me about football.
There is very little in football that is new.
In my opinion, the club are currently giving us hogwash about Assombalonga and his alleged injury.
It happens, its nothing new.
Players ‘off form’ get ‘injuries’to take them out of the firing line.
Are you saying that doesn't exist in football ?.

We all know that Assombalonga’s contract is up next summer.
We also know that if he doesn’t sign an extension at reduced terms he leaves for free.
( the most likely scenario )
However, if Boro can flog him for absolutely anything in January they will.

It makes sense then that the club flannels over Assombalonga’s appalling form and say he’s injured.

This Captaincy appointment has been a joke from the start.
We now have several players in the squad who could fulfill that role with far greater respect from players and fans alike.

it was no more than an attempt to get him into some form through a confidence boost or else to get Assombalonga to sign up to a contract extension thus buying the club time to get shot if him next summer for a better fee.

You really are naive if you think he is the best man for the job.

The team on Tuesday were so much better without him both playing and coin flipping.
There, I’ve said it !.

He will not be missed.

Aye but he was injured

Are we supposed to show our support for a striker who grins like a Cheshire cat every time he misses a sitter or puts a penna into the Tees?
2million pounds a year this imposter is robbing our club of,literally robbing a living.
The sooner he leaves the better, preferred dave currie and dave shearer and they were both *****

He isn't moving fluidly - it was deemed stiffness at the weekend - later an issue adbuctor muscle and he has been swimming to try and rectify it and he has been assessed this afternoon for Saturday. I don't know the outcome.

To me Britt is a reasonable finisher and has a hard and more accurate than average shot. He can head well away from goal when defending, but less so under close challenges and with his back to goal. He is poor at holding play up and distributing. His positional play is fine but movement is limited He is not fast, but not slow neither. Strength on the ball is moderate to poor. His strike rate is decent, but is helped by taking pens. He under performed under Pulis and certainly under Woodgate. Under Pulis he seemed at his best when brought on as a sub. He through himself into the game more when he knew he only had 25 minutes on the pitch and the defenders had been softened up and worn out a little.

Why don't we all slag off our captain when he is injured!

If he wasnt garbage he wouldnt get stick. If your on 30-40k a week and cost 15mil and you have barely broke a sweat for 3 years and came back with poor goal return that doesnt make up for the lack of effort or teamwork then I dont think its unwarranted. I'm sure he wont mind its payday again today for him doing jack all and staying fat.

While all that makes you a big and long standing fan it doesn't make other people opinions invalid if they disagree with you, or make them 'naive' because they believe Warnock and you don't
You've posted many many times on this thread, so it's fairly obvious hes not your favourite player

We're doing ok at the moment. Let's hope that we can put on a decent display tomorrow irrespective of the outcome.
A win of course would be wonderful, something to relish, to celebrate.

One thing's for certain though, there'll always be an opportunity for those who want to have a go, the malcontents and disenchanted. Or miserable gits.😄

lets get this straight, once and for all.
Do you believe, that in your opinion, Britt Assombalonga is the right man to be Captain of Middlesbrough Football Club?.

I have also said on several threads that I have supported Assombalonga through thick and thin....mostly thin.
However my patience with him is simply exhausted.

I do not see anything in him now to change that opinion.
This has been one barren spell too many, people are making excuses, he’s injured, he hasn’t got a partner up front, he needs wingers, he needs this he needs that.
I know what he needs... booting out !
He is not a striker, he doesn’t strike.

He would miss chances if he had Juninho and Ravanelli alongside him.

But you are right, others may have a different opinion of him.
I won’t be changing mine.

Assombalonga hasn’t looked ‘hungry’ for quite some time.
