Britt what is your honest opinion on him

I never like to criticise any current player Boro player and you can’t knock his career goal tally but for me he just frustrates the life out of me as yes all strikers miss chances but some of the sitters he has let go This this season drives me insane.

so what is your honest opinion on him and his Boro future.

I think he hasn’t been worth the money paid for him any shape or form. I think I would play him in a 2 with Fletcher for the remaining of the season , he will score a few goals and he will miss some horrendous chances. He’s not a very bright footballer in the sense he’s not good at linking play but he knows how to score a few goals. Nothing against the lad, and I hope he bangs a couple in tonight if he plays but I think the move hasn’t really worked and it would be best for all parties if we get some money in for him the summer with only a year left on his contract.

But Is he though finny yes he was but you couldn’t call him prolific now. I just think with a different forward we’d have scored more.

Esp the 1 on 1 which are on the whole horrendous

Keep him fit, play him every game and he will bag you 20 goals in this division with sheer ease.

Is he a team player? I'd probably say on some occasions no.

But the fact he can score goals at this level (and his record proves this), I wouldn't want us to sell him.

Although I am starting to warm to Fletcher.

He's got the same amount of goals/assists (combined) as Bamford this season.....yet one is playing in a team occupying 2nd place and the other is in the bottom 7.

He is a competent Championship goal scorer. To get another one, we might have to pay the same again, for someone there'd be no guarantees are better.

That said, if we were offered a fair price in the summer for a player whose on too big a wage with one year left, I'd shed no tears if he moved on.

TBH, other than the younger players, there aren't really any of our senior players I'd beg to keep this summer.

Average championship striker, would have no issue with him if he hadn't cost us an extortionate amount.

For a player of his stature I find him weak in any 50/50 ball. We would be up where we belong if he done what he should have and bagged easy goals. I have not missed him while he has been out. He will get the odd goal but misses more chances than scores. Certainly would not call him a prolific striker.

We need to keep ayala and howson definitely.
On the one hand I agree but on the other, if we're building for the future, I wouldn't be paying anyone over the odds. Howson will be 32, we could only give him a two year contract and he might get a better offer elsewhere.

Average championship strikers seem to cost £1m a goal but to call yourself a striker you need to be in double figures.

I don’t see us buying £15m strikers until we’re back in the premier league wel have produce and coach one or loan one .

He seems to be like most strikers that we have had since the days of JFH and Viduka... So much potential but they rarely perform at the level they can with us. No idea why. I'd love for us to have a 20 goal a season man that every defender was scared of.

My honest opinion? He misses a lot of chances. He is, however, usually the man on the spot when a chance is created and in the position to try and take said chances. I'd liken him in that respect to Szilard Nemeth, who always seemed to be on the end of the through ball.

If he could put away the chances he's there for, we couldn't afford him. For such a wasteful striker, he's amazingly prolific.

Block21 summed him up perfectly. (y)

For those around in the 80’s, I would compare his ‘talent’ as being like a modern day David Currie. Really not that great, a poor finisher, selfish, misses sitters but then again gets in the right positions enough to score a few against the lower standard of the division. Oh, and a poor penalty taker to boot. Not his fault the daft fee and wages were agreed. Apart from that, he was a real bargain (y)

I think strikers should be judged more on the goals their score rather than criticised for chances their miss .
If he played a full season he’d get 15 plus , for most teams that would be enough but we need a second player to get that as well which we do actually have in fletcher .

Next season with fletcher/Britt up front , Roberts, coulsen and an improved Morison in midfield could well erm ............”smash the league “.

I ain't no Stato but his misses may have outnumbered his scores this season so far, including the Row Z Penalties.

In my opinion, I find him a waste of space on the pitch. Purely in terms of statistics his goal scoring record is admirable and I accept that. However I always feel we're carrying a passenger when he is on the pitch and that unless he's scoring he offers nothing. In the modern game strikers need to offer much more than just goals... when many teams play with only one genuine striker they need to be able to hold the ball up and bring the other players around them into play.

He just doesn't do that. I wouldn't have him as an absolute failure because he has scored a good few goals but if I am being brutally honest I hoped for so much more from him when we signed him.

I think we'll probably end up selling in the summer for between £6m and £8m.
