Britt Assombalonga

Why do people keep bringing this thread back to the top?

I don't wish him well , I don't wish him ill

Let's hope our current players get 3 points tomorrow though

I think he was a decent enough player, but he was never going to be good value and give a proper return on a £16m fee, plus salary.

He looked fantastic under Monk, but awful at time under Pulis.

t was an expensive gamble that didn't pay off and evidence, if any were needed, that we should never repeat this route again.
I think fantastic is over egging it, he was hot and cold. Missed good chances and was absent in the big games, but he did bang them in against the poor sides

How many strikers score more than 15 goals in championship? 20 goal strikers are rare to come by
OK.
2021-22 10 players scored more than 15 league goals in the Championship ( 5 players got 20 plus)
2020-21. 6 (4)
2019-20 9. (3)
2018-19 10 (9)
2017-18. 6 (2)
2016-17. 7 (4)
2015-16. 7 (3)
2014-15. 12 (6)
2013-14. 11 (8)
2012-13. 8 (5)

So in the last 10 seasons, Over 15 a season has been done 86 times, average 9 times per season.
20 plus has been done 49 times, so average 5 per season.

Assombolonga has never done what so many players have and none of them cost their club what he cost us, bar Solanke who was signed when Bournemouth were in the top flight.

Good strikers either take their teams up, or get bought by PL clubs.
Nobody was going to buy Assombolonga.

He’s a low technical ability player. Replied on pace until his knee broke, then robbed a living after that with tap ins against Burton and Birmingham papering over the cracks of his anonymity against pretty much every top half team. Glad he’s gone to Watford, he’ll score 4 or 5 but ultimately make them less competitive in the big matches
Knew he would never get 4 or 5
Half a 46 game season and he got 2 goals
I was wrong too - I didn't think he'd get 2
Watch him score a hat trick now 😮

It might controversial but I think we are finally seeing how the likes of Brit and fletcher were holding us back with their goal input esp in key games.

Britt in his first 2 seasons - and in the run in when we were in relegation difficulty in the 3rd - wasn't too bad
It was his last season where he really went off the boil with goals scored

He scored yes but very rarely in the crunch games and I still say it was like playing with 10 men because as a footballer he was woeful.

Chuba shows how it can be done.

The fact thet he has an 11 game contract No wonder he looks like he’s not that fussed and hates everyone there.

He didn’t have the goals that true but it’s more about attitude with Brit

I just didn’t rate Brit never have look at my previous posts I always said he was the issue.

If only we had a 1 in 3 striker...

Might be controversial but I’d rather see the likes of Josh Coburn trying their hardest and not quite doing it every week than seeing Britt tossing it off week after week.

20/21 figures. Very similar in appearances and goals. 1 of britts was a penalty, none of Chubas. I think Chuba played a few games wide left too iirc
