Britt Assombalonga

In fairness to Britt, it wasn't his fault that we were daft enough to spend £15m on him.

At the same time, he should have been busting a gut every game when you take into consideration how much we bought him for, and the wages he was on. He would have games where you'd feel he'd put a shift in but it didn't happen consistently.

Reality is, he really didn't offer us much aside from goals, and his goalscoring record was half-decent at best.

True he was nowhere near as bad as Gestede and plenty of other signings we've made of late for that matter either.

His problem, although he hardly came up with his own price tag, was that he cost the club 15m which pound for pound represents pi$s poor value for money.
gestede dont have a club no more also

From a Watford fans point of view it’s probably a very low risk gamble as he’s only there until the end of the season and has scored at this level before. Imagine he’ll be used as an option from the bench at first. Nothing really to lose and everything to gain, a bit like when we signed Watmore.

plus he on 6 months so if pulls some form off he will have a nice free transfer to be had, wonder if thats watfords preference or his own to bet on himself

6 months with the option of a year.

If he does well, he'll probably be at Watford next season still.

Would he get a hero's welcome if he came back playing for an opposing team?

Did he fire us to promotion?
Did he laugh and snigger after he nearly put a penalty in the river tees ?

I remember him for 1 of the above ...
He 'laughed' because he was embarrassed. Dwight Gayle did the same when he missed chances at the time , but plenty on here wanted to sign him

He’s a low technical ability player. Replied on pace until his knee broke, then robbed a living after that with tap ins against Burton and Birmingham papering over the cracks of his anonymity against pretty much every top half team. Glad he’s gone to Watford, he’ll score 4 or 5 but ultimately make them less competitive in the big matches

Not selling Gestede to Leeds for £6m was the big one!

Could we have sold Britt Assombalonga?
Anyone who bought the carthorse that is Gestede off us for 6M after he tossed away his time picking up big bunce without playing surely wouldn't have had the nous to get their side up anyway, so buying him wouldn't have harmed their chances.
