Brighton, Burnley or Fulham

Newcastle remaining fixtures.

Spurs, Burnley, West Ham, Liverpool, Arsenal, Leicester, Man City, Sheff Utd, Fulham.

Fulham’s:

Villa, Wolves, Arsenal, Chelsea, Burnley, Southampton, Man U, Newcastle.

Toon are 2 points ahead, with a game in hand. Fulham have 5 goals better goal difference.

Toon almost certainly get beat of: Liverpool and Man City.

Probably get beat off: Spurs, West Ham, Leicester and Arsenal.

Winnable games: Burnley, Sheff Utd, Fulham.

Fulham almost certainly get beat off: Chelsea, Man U

Probably get best off: Arsenal.

Winnable games: Wolves, Villa, Burnley, Newcastle.

Obviously it’s nowhere near as simple as that but based on Fulham likely only needing to draw level on points with Toon due to a 5 goal better goal difference, and their form being slightly better, Newcastle having injuries to key players, morale of the club being shocking, I really can’t see Newcastle staying up. Really hope I’m right as well! 🤞

I think Steve Bruce will be sacked during this international break, and I expect there'll be a new manager bounce that keeps them up.

I'd love to be wrong and for them to come down though.

I would prefer them to stay up as if they are relegated Ashley will spend enough to guarantee their promotion next season. They tend to smash the championship unfortunately.

I have wondered since that shambles of a season we had in the prem if it is actually worth getting promoted. Obviously, it is financially but for the fans it means watching shyte.
Its getting like the spanish league where half of the teams in the prem are just making the numbers up. Without 100s of millions being spent there isnt much of a chance to compete. There's always a 'leciester's' chance but thats it,

Know what you mean, our season was depressing. Depends how you do it though.

Leicester are the big one but you don't have to finish top 4 to have a brilliant, entertaining season. Every year a couple of unexpected clubs do really well, bloodying the noses of the big boys.

Newcastle are a depressing, unambitious zombie club but not everyone works like that with doing the minimum required to stay in the league. Ask any Villa, Leeds, Wolves, West Ham, Sheffield United, Southampton, Everton and Leicester fans if they've enjoyed the last few years.

It's a fantastic league and I think the uncompetitiveness of the Premier League is overstated sometimes. The top 6-7 is tooth and nail, City aside - look at Liverpool this season - and there's never much between the next 10 clubs.

Plus, it's the biggest show on earth isn't it, you want to be part of that.

That last day fixture between Fulham v Newcastle is quickly becoming one of the biggest games in PL history!

If crowds are back by then, and Fulham are within 3 points of Newcastle and safety, then what a game it could be!

I'd fancy Fulham to win too (if the crowd is there).

I wouldn't be surprised if Fulham are safe by then and Newcastle are already relegated.

That performance away to Brighton was a disgrace.

Brighton had 1 home win all season prior to the game and Newcastle didn't even attack. Not even at 1-0 down did they even try.

Bruce needs Callum Wilson to turn it on, otherwise I don't see them scoring, let alone winning to pick up points.

Fulham vs Newcastle, last game of the season. Thank you football gods.

Newcastle have to play a lot of teams fighting for that top 4 place, horrendous run in. Fulham have a few more who will be on the beach.

Remember when Alan Shearer came in as manager with 8 games to go to save the geordies, and lost 7 (?) of them? That was one of my favourite relegations.
I think he drew a couple to be fair. And his one victory was against........😔😱?

It's changed in the the last 5 years, the uncompetitiveness was definitely there before for 15 years, you could pick the top 4 at the beginning of every season, not so much now. I think the last TV deal meant that even average prem teams could afford a few superstars on 80k a week, and if they get teh recruitment right, for 2 or 3 season, well they can put up a good fight.

depends if they can get Sain-maximan and Wilson fit. Both fit they stay up, both injured/unfit and they go down.
I just think they'll pull something out of the hat before the Fulham fixture, if not then its curtains, Fulham will win if needing to

Leicester been one example, West Ham this season too

This season is probably the 1st since the boro were relegated that I've actually shown any interest in the league table, more so to see where Burnley & Brighton sit, wont watch any games mind

Yeah, agree. The big two became the big four, then it became a big 6 or 7 trying to fit into four, then Leicester gatecrashed it, then it got good 😁

After yesterday, I think it's Fulham. (I'm assuming Sheff Utd & West Brom too). Fulham were pretty toothless against an average Villa side (with no Grealish). Newcastle showed more fight and desire (IMO) against better opponents.

Agreed.
Fulham's remaining fixtures aren't exactly easy, and they didn't manage to beat any of them in the first half of the season.

My prediction is that Newcastle probably only need a win and a draw before the final day to be okay.
